Sorry, just jumping into this discussion. If this is the same Fleet Cooper, Sr. who is the most distant known ancestor for FTDNA kit 2751, the individual in question has haplotype R-DF5, which is part of the recently-discovered and very large R-DF21 subtree below R-L21 (aka R1b1b2a1b5). More specifically Cooper is actually in a very small clade below R-DF5 called R-L627, which he shares with a group of Reynolds. Their common ancestor probably dates from the medieval period. The DF21 subtree is known to be independent of M222.
