Hi Susan, This may have been covered already.  If so, apologies.  Rev. Woulfe in Sloinnte Gaedheal Is Gall reports that the fine (extended family) of Mac Daibhéid / McDevitt descend from Daibhidh Ó Dochartaigh who fell in battle in 1208.  For reference to his death, see entry 1209.1 in Annála Uladh / Annals of Ulster at  http://celt.ucc.ie/published/G100001B/index.html   and   http://www.ucc.ie/celt/published/T100001B/index.html .  I'm not sure how Woulfe knew of the descent, maybe from Mac Fhirbhisigh's Leabhar na nGenealach / Book of Genealogies?
