    3. From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: ISOGG tree update v8.83 Date: Fri, 6 Dec 2013 08:24:47 +0000 I sent Alice Fairhurst fresh supporting evidence for DF85 and DF97 and the former has now been added to the ISOGG tree version 8.83 overnight. Hopefully DF97 will follow as it easily met the diversity requirements. S668 I suspect is going to take more effort. http://www.isogg.org/tree/ISOGG_HapgrpR.html "Added CTS4027, CTS8277, CTS8401, F2686, F2935, S1734, S1741, S1743 to tree; moved L130, L719 from Private to tree; moved DF73/S923, DF85/S675, DF88, DF96, DF98, DF99/S11987 from Investigation to tree; added F1493.3, S1246, S1307, S1468, S1687, S1731, S1746, S1747, S1809, S7402/Z12222 to Investigation on 5 December 2013." Iain Actually there is a typo in the tree as it is now reading S678 instead of S675, a note has been sent to the editor. Iain

Along with all the major problems with this is the loss of power. Main reason for the email is that with the loss of power, and being remote with thousands of trees to fall on power lines, sometimes it takes a LONG time for power to be restored; so, once we begin to see this freezing rain later today it may be awhile before my next email. 3. I will track Big Y results for L21 so we can compare across groups and see what SNPs are relevant by group. That being said, I do ask all of L21 (including M222) people who have Big Y on order to join the R-L21plus project in addition to being in the M222 project so I can gather the results from one place. FTDNA says they will integrate Big Y results on to project report screens. This would just make it easier. 2. Mike W
    3. I won't have time to look at your specific issues until later. Here are two small .pdf (print) files that everyone should be able to view that are excerpts from two of the spreadsheets that relate to Chromo 2. This is from the Raw_Compare_Chromo2 spreadsheet. It is only one tab and doesn't do a lot but it does have 15,000 rows because that is about how many SNPs Chromo 2 reports for us. There is now way around that. The number of matches, no calls, differences, etc. are calcuated. In the spreadsheet itself you can select/autofilter on differences to see how any two people compare. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/Example_Chromo_2_Raw_compare.pdf This is second .pdf is an excerpt of a larger R1b-L21_SNPs spreadsheet that I will probably have to skinny down to an output only format. I'm trying to emulate the FTDNA project Y DNA SNP report. Unfortunately BISDNA doesn't have projects so we need something like this. This is the spreadsheet that is a work in progress that will have to handle the plethora of SNPs that are coming our way through Big Y and FG. I will add tabs for those two eventually and already have one that actually is a copy/paste of the R-L21plus project Y DNA SNP report. In the actual spreadsheet, I filter out all upstream SNPs to reduce the size of the Genetic Signature (Chromo 2 term) of positive SNPs. You can filter on the potentially relevant SNPs for patterns. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/Example_Chromo_2_Y_DNA_SNP_report.pdf Regards, Mike W

    3. I'm requesting that all M222 (along with the rest of L21) people save their Chromo 2 Genetic signature .txt files at the R1b-L21-Project yahoo group file folder designated for this purpose. http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/R1b-L21-Project/files/Chromo_2_L21_S145_results I recognize that Dr. Wilson and others are building phylogenetic trees for M222. The purpose here is not the initial building of the tree but for broader comparisons between people and groups of people, and the application of the tree to those circumstances. I'm trying to create a spreadsheet equivalent to the FTDNA project Y DNA SNP report, except for Chromo 2. This spreadsheet is a draft starting point. This should make it easier to compare Chromo 2 results visually. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/R1b-L21_SNPs.zip I will greatly expand the Clade/phylgenetic tree definition for L21 to include the S series SNPs merged with FTDNA a la carte and Geno 2. Eventually I'll include Big Y and hopefully I'll get help to handle FG. I just realized last night that not everyone has a Genetic Signature .txt file for Chromo 2. I created a spreadsheet aid that transforms raw results .csv/spreadsheet columns into a Genetic Signature. It also allows you to quickly compare any two peoples' raw results. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/Raw_Compare_Chromo2.zip

    3. Here is the latest up-date on df85 df97; To date there have been 66 tested for DF85 (some are not in the R-M222 project, but tested through their parent project). 40 are negative 26 are positive df85+ percentage of 39.4% 18 different surnames of these 2 are McGee, 1 McKee; the rest are singletons (please view the R-M222 project pages as Linda has it sub-divided--thank you Linda) claimed ancestral origin: 1 Eng; 7 Ire; 11 Scot; 7 unknown 1 is confirmed df85+ df97- 13 df97+ 8 different surnames claimed ancestral origin: 4 Ire; 6 Scot; 3 unknown 50% of the df85+ pool are positive; 7 are the Ashley/Duncan/McC cluster; 3 are Doherty/Davitt cluster; 3 singletons: McNeely, Slavens, Harrison Pending tests: 7 for df85; 4 for df97 Those tested for df 85 including pending df97 inquiries are holding firm at the previous TMRCA estimate, and the df85+ modal remains 1 off of the M222 modal --top of the bell curve went down by 100 years with Davitts df97+ moving him into the df97+ group; however well within the margin of error (SD) of the previous estimate. As predicted the df97+ group TMRCA did indeed go up, and by a couple hundred years at the top of the bell curve with the new positives added. Assessment date: 3 Dec 2013 The Chromo 2 and BigY inquiries should add clarifications and further information. Please note Chromo2 testers: If any of you taking this test, not previously tested for df85 end up being S675+/S673 (df85+--Iain has it listed as S673; however Jim Wilson previously ID'd it as S675--and I believe the two are listed as equivalents) in your Chromo2 results, please plan to single SNP test for df97 because df97 by that or any other name is not tested for on Chromo2. Also, for list members who have tested positive for either df85 and/or df97, if you believe some of your matches in other surnames may also be positive based on your matches and/or viewed haplotypes, please contact them and see if they would be interested to test for at least df85 with a follow-up for df97 if they are positive. The waiting on Chromo2 and BigY results is going to be excruciating. None the less, I encourage any who have been on the testing fence to think about testing Chromo2 raw data. Susan Hedeen

    1. [R-M222] If you miss the tags at the end of your name......
    2. Linda McKee
    3. Good morning List, I received a very nice note from Janine at FTDNA requesting me to move the tags to between the first and middle name or following the middle name. Being located at the end of the name creates a problem for the folks at FTDNA to search for member kits. With the end of the Big Y sale the crush for me personally has eased up and the hour being late when I saw Janine's email, I chose to remove the tags. They certainly made it much easier for me to maintain control of what was what and I appreciate that leeway there. Couple of members I could not remove the tags and so need to request the member move the tags to between first or second name. I have contacted those by personal email and expect to see all changed sometime today. Members may need to post their own test results as they are posted as I do not receive those results from FTDNA. Only when the order is placed do I hear about it from FTDNA. Linda
