    3. Hi Judy, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. There's a lot of info in what you sent. I did not know about the Dugard spelling varation nor their sojurn into Tennessee. Do you have a family tree for these descendants? The book you mention "The Ancestors of William Clopton of York County, Virginia with Records of Some of His Descendants, to which are added Royal Iines," by Lucy Jane Erwin, " is available on micofiche from the Family History Center (FHC) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in your neighborhood. I have also found Ann Moss' ancestral links through her mother to the Cloptons on www.familysearch.org back to the 10th century, around the time the family left England, I presume with William the Conqueror, to rule England. You probably already know the location of the FHC near you, but here is a link to find one in case you don't: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp Brian brianp@phelpsinc.com Phelps Enterprises "[Leadership] involves . . . a personal and sincere interest in the problems and concerns of those who are being led and, most importantly, a willingness to get on one's knees and seek for greater power than that which one naturally possesses." --Gordon B. Hinckley -----Original Message----- From: Judy Blackwell [mailto:jgcb@swva.net] Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2002 4:09 PM To: brianp@phelpsinc.com Subject: Diuguid Research I enclose what I have and it is sometimes very confusing but I know there is a connection. Judith Kenner daughter of Rodham and Judith Kenner married Joseph W. Carden in Botetourt County, Virginia 13 September 1811. Records state Rodham is deceased and Judith Kenner is the mother of Judith who married Joseph that day. Apparently, they all go to Hawkins County, TN at a later date. In researching I have come across a million Kenners and finally got that straight, but Beverlys keep coming into the picture as well. Judith, Sr. named one child with the middle name of Beverly. Now we come to Diuguid family. These records are from Caroline County, VA where the Kenners, Beverly's and Dugard (corrupted spelling) are to be found. p. 531 Caroliine County Orders 1772-1776 Harry Bevewrly, Plaintif agst. John and Margaret Dugard, Executrix of George Kenner, deceased. Defndts. In case Abated by Plaintifs death. p. 616 The former order of Court appointing Robert Gilchrist, James Taylor and John Buckner to divide the Estate of George Kenner, deceased according to his Will not being compkied with on the motion ;of John Dugard. Back to Judith Kenner, Sr. who went to Hawkins Co. TN with daughter Judith and her husband Joseph W. Carden. Here is a portion of her will: dated 16 November 1819. My Mother, Margaret Daguard. . . my daughter, Lucy Beverly Winston (mrs. John G.) my granddaughter, Margaret Winston, my son, Lawrence Sterne Kenner my daughter, Judith Cardin (Mrs. J. W.) My grandson, William Winston, my grandson, Roadham Beverly Kenner. . to Lucy my negro girl named Mary and her increase. . .my grandson, Roadham Beverly Kenner to have my negro girl named Eliza and her increase. William Simpson of Rogersville to be my exeuctor. Page 279 13 February 1829 Judith Kenner is dead and her will is probated naming all of the above and some more which have nothing to do with the Diuguid family. The following is from Faquier County records. Chancery suits: Kenner, Joseph vs. William Taliaferro, Hay Taliaferro and William Taliaferro, Sr. Judith Kenner states that she contracted with Hay T. for the making of a phaeton and some other work to be done at his shop. She also states that William Taliaferro, Sr., father of Hay T, and William Taliaferro, Jr., brother of Hay, also worked at the shop. 8 September 1806 Mary Dugand (their spelling) states that she was present when Judith Kenner delivered 51 pounds of brown sugar to William Taliaferro, Sr. 5 Nov 1806 There is next to nothing in the library (Roanoke) about this family. I did come across some queries that I will send along: William Diuguid lived in that part of Albermarle Co., VA which became Buckinham Co, in 1761 and Appomattox in 1845, died in 1764 in Buckingham Co. married Goochland Co. 25 November 1745 Ann Moss b. 30 September 1724 New Kent Co. d. 1805, Powhatan Co. daughter of Alexander Moss who married Elizabeth Clopton Walker. Alexnder Moss whose will is dated 10 February 1772 probated 27 April 1772, mentioned daughter, Ann Diuguid and her children: William, Elizabeth Patterson Jean Coile (i.e. Kyle), Alexander, George, Ann and Martha. Alexander left to his Son George Diuguid, 30 acres of his plantation and his farms, houses nd woodlands "lying in Great Britain which I am now possessed of -- when he is 21. p. 53, Will Book 2, Cumberland County, VA Also, "The Ancestors of William Clopton of York County, Virginia with Records of Some of His Descendants, to which are added Royal Iines," by Lucy Jane Erwin, 1939, includes Moss and Diuguid lines. I thought perhaps you might be able to locate this book or information about it. Hope there are some clues here somewhere. Judy B.
