In a listing of settlers to Jefferson, Schoharie Co, NY, two names are listed for 1812. One is Smith Disbrow, and the other Samuel Smith, from whom I descend. I note that Smith Disbrow came from the Fairfield, CT area, while I strongly suspect my Samuel came from the Stamford, CT area, possibly the son of Ezekiel and Sarah (Morehouse) Smith. I'm most curious as to how Smith Disbrow gained his first name, as I try to see if there is some connection between him and Samuel Smith."
