Hello I believe I may have an indirect connection with the Disbrows of the US. As you can see from my surname and email I am a Desborough living in New Zealand, but my father is from London and I am researching his ancestry. I read with interest the book on John Disbrowe posted on your website, and I'm aware of the many variations in the spelling of this "group" of surnames (i.e. Desborough, Desborou, Desboro, Disbrowe, Disbrow, Disbro, Disborough, Disberry, Disbery, Disbury). For one of the family groups of my ancestors, I understand that the siblings of one family used four different spellings! This might be drawing a long bow, but it does seem that over time, the UK descendants may have gravitated toward "Desborough", where the US descendants have used "Disbrow(e)". There appear to be around 600 phone listings for Disbrow in the US, and only about 30 Desboroughs, where in the UK there are about 340 listings for Desborough and only 5 for Disbrow. There are also about 20 Desboroughs in each of New Zealand and Australia, although in my case for the other New Zealand Desboroughs must be very distant relatives if at all. My reason for contacting the list is to ask if anyone knows of any research on the UK Desborough line. Many thanks Paul Desborough
