Ford, was the son of Albert and Rebecca (Disbrow) Ford. She feels certain he was the same person as the William Ford listed with them in the 1860 census, age 18. According to their family tradition, William and Loretta (whose maiden name may have been Root) eloped after meeting at a dance in or near Cleveland, OH. They were in Cherry Valley, Rockford Co., IL in 1870, where he was farming. Later they moved to Chicago where he worked as a carpenter. Children: (5-8-8-5-1) Frank R. He was listed there in the 1840 census of Chester Twp., but by 1850 he and his family were living in Turtle Creek Twp. of neighboring Warren Co. Gideon was a farmer, age 43, born in NY. The members of his household were listed in the following order: Lewis 14, Willis 13, Joel 12, Hannah E. 10, Edward 7, John 5, Levi 3, Nancy 35 and Mary Osborn 35, all born in OH. The census was taken on 8 Oct. and Gideon's first wife Nancy had died on the 20th of July that year, but she was listed. The Mary Osborn listed was undoubtedly the one Gideon married two years later. He was 24 years old, a farmer, with his wife Priscilla 24 and daughter Olive J. 1. A biographical sketch of his son, A. C. Disbrow, which was printed in an 1888 history of Sedgewick Co., KS, gave the following information about his parents: "...son of Willis and Priscilla E. (Gaddis) Disbrow, natives of Ohio. The father, a farmer by occupation ... is still living, and a resident of DeWitt Co., Ill. The mother, born in 1828, continues the companion of her husband. The family removed from Ohio to Illinois in 1861 ... The children of the parental household of our subject are recorded as follows: Ollie, the wife of David Hobson, is living near Clinton, Ill.; A. C. was the second child; Henry died in boyhood; Allen and John are at home ... There are now living but four of the six children of his parents." Willis was still living in 1900 in the home of his son John P. Disbrow in Creek Twp. of Dewitt Co., IL. Children: (all b. OH) (5-9-1-5-1) Olive J./Ollie b. c1849; m. David Hobson +(5-9-1-5-2) A. (2nd) Ann Kirby and (3rd) Catherine Wilkerson (see below) From the 1882 "History of Clinton Co., OH": "CLAYTON ROCKHILL, deceased, was b. July 2, 1800 in New Jersey; his parents were John & Elizabeth Rockhill, who settled in what is now Chester Twp. at an early day; he was reared on a farm and received but a limited education. His first wife was Esther Disbrow, by whom he had five children, three of whom grew to manhood and womanhood. She died June 29, 1834. On Nov. 11, 1836, he married Miss Ann Kirby by whom he had three children, one of whom is still living. She died in Oct. 1843; he was again married June 28, 1845, to Catherine Wilkerson, by whom he had four children, viz., Sarah, John W., Edward and Laura; he was a member of the Baptist Church, and departed this life June 30, 1854; his widow still survives him, in the seventieth year of her age, and has in her possession about sixty-four acres of land, situated about two miles northwest of Oakland Village." In 1835 the area became part of Westport. The 1850 census of Westport lists Ebenezer Disbrow as a farmer, age 52, with Angeline 49, Elizabeth 26, Ebenezer 23, Malancton 21, Clarissa 19, Arthur 11, Alathea 11 and Alathea Bartlett 84, all born in CT. Angeline's mother Alathea (Ripley) was a daughter of Hezekiah Ripley, a direct descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower and Plymouth Colony. Six of Ebenezer's and Angeline's children died relatively young and were buried near them in the Lower Greens Farms cemetery in Westport. The only unproved child is William B. but from his birthdate and his later proximity to Martin L. and Ebenezer Disbrow after they had moved out to the middle west, I am assuming his relationship. Even though he is listed last he would have been their oldest child. Children: (prob. all b. Westport) (6-4-2-2-1) Elizabeth b. (26 Aug. 1824); d. 15 May 1862 (age 37-8-19), bur.
