    3. >From - Mike Disbrow, listowner Subject - My father passed away last Monday. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From the Cadillac [Michigan] Evening News, Feb. 20, 2007: WILLARD DISBROW MANTON — Willard Lyle Disbrow, age 92, of Manton died Monday morning, Feb. 19, 2007 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac. He was born in Mancelona on Oct. 25, 1914, the fourth child of six, to Arthur and Mary (Brazee) Disbrow. Mr. Disbrow grew up in Manton and graduated from Manton High School in 1932 and from Cleary College in Ypsilanti in 1934. He married the former Leona Iris Smith in Onekama on Oct. 15, 1938. During World War II, he worked for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, Calif. After the war he returned with his family to Michigan and was employed at Oldsmobile in Lansing, Alma Trailer in Alma and then for the Tucker Corporation in Chicago. He retired from the Budd Company in Detroit in 1971 and moved to Florida. He returned to Manton in 1979. He was a longtime member and deacon of the Manton Baptist Church. He served for a number of years on the Wexford County Council on Aging and had served as president of the Manton Area Retirees Club. He was director of the Manton Area Historical Museum and was recently recognized by the Museum for his many years of faithful service. He was also honored as Manton’s Citizen of the Year in 1999. He was proud of his work as a federal census taker in the U.S. censuses of 1970, 80 and 90. Mr. Disbrow was preceded in death by his wife, Leona on May 29, 2004 and also by his two sisters and three brothers. Surviving are three children: daughter, Sharon V. Geraci of Centerline; sons, Vernon (Marylynn) Disbrow and Michael (Denise) Disbrow, both of Manton; six grandchildren, Jeanine (Walter) Robinson of Warren, Aaron Kelly of Warren, Janice (Mark) Doede of Southfield, Lauren Disbrow of Sault Ste. Marie, Ian Disbrow of Anchorville, Ethan Disbrow of Ypsilanti; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Manton Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Hemmes officiating. Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Burial in Fairview Cemetery will be in the spring. Gifts in memory of Willard may be made to the Manton Area Historical Museum. [edited by msd]
