    3. >From - Mike Disbrow, listowner The following was received from James E. Disbrow, Apr. 16: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "James Disbrow" jdisbrow@aquatron.us To: mdisbrow1@sbcglobal.net Dear Sir/Madam, I am fascinated with the idea of a large gathering of Disbrows a name not common. My father is from New Jersey, Durrell E. Disbrow married to Flora Katherine Cavender of Old Hickory Tenn. My dadÂ’s father Willard E. Disbrow I believe was from Heights Town NJ he married Emma Fenemore sadly I do not know where my grandmother originated. I do know they lived in Old Hickory Tenn for many years before residing in St. Petersberg FL. My Grandfather had three sons Durrelle E. Disbrow, my father age 89, Otis Disbrow deceased and Revile Disbrow also deceased he also had a daughter Cynneth Disbrow, also deceased. Otis had two daughters, Emma Lou and Carolyn Sue and a son Keathen. Revile had two sons Nicholas and Randal, Durrelle had two daughters and two sons Christy, Kathy, David and James (me) Cynneth had two daughters Jerri and Cynneth. I would appreciate any insight you can offer regarding the family. I know we originated in England I do not know if there exists a cost of arms if there is anything I can ask my dad regarding his family let me know and I will be glad to do so. James E. Disbrow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My reply to James is as follows: James - Thanks for writing. I do have some information on your family and it mainly comes from a book that was printed in 1979 known as "The Disbrow Book" (for lack of a better name). It was one of those books where they asked people by the name of Disbrow to submit information, then they printed it and sold it back to them. There are two pages that would be of interest to you - one submitted by Willard V. Disbrow (your grandfather) and one by Otis Crandall Disbrow (your uncle). The pages I have are photocopies of the submitters' own handwriting answering questions on a printed form. I can scan and send you copies by email if you want them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full name - Willard V. Was known as "Whoopee." You could hear him holler from one end of town to the other on Sat. night." Signature - Otis C. Disbrow -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above may give you some clues for researching your family history, such as your great grandparents' names (Edward and Sarah). I cannot tell you any more on Edward Disbrow because there were quite a few by that name in that time period. But if you can get more information on him I might be able to add more generations to your Disbrow ancestry from my files. Another change - you gave me your grandfather's name as Willard E., but he clearly gave it as Willard V. and so did Otis. (Interestingly my father's name was also Willard. ) Social Securtiy death records show that Willard V. Disbrow died in Aug. 1985 in Franklin Co., Tennessee. I don't have any additional info on his wife Emma L. Fenimore. I'm going to send your inquiry out to our Disbrow mailing list, which will reach about 100 subscribers, so you may hear more from someone there. Quite a few are interested in the New Jersey Disbrows. Best of luck and keep me informed of your progress. Mike Disbrow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I stated to James, I have no further info on his gt. grandfather Edward, although I have a number of "unplaced" Edwards from that time period in my miscellaneous files. Perhaps someone in this group can help. You can contact James directly, and/or use the mailing list to keep the rest of us informed on the issue. Mike
