Hi Mike, I have all the information you gave me and have it listed on my webpage. Alexander Collins Disbrow (w later dropped) was my great-grandfather. My grandfather was one of his sons, Frank Disbro. I don't have a copy of the civil war pension papers, but I do know my Grandmother, Nellie Mae Disbro helped my Great-Grandmother Disbro receive his pension money after Great-Grandpa died. My Grandmother wrote this info. in her family Bible which was later given to my Aunt and then to my Mother...then to me. I have names and birthdates of all the children of Frank Disbro who was my Grandfather. As I think I mentioned ALL photos were LOST back in the early 80's when Mom and Dad (now deceased) sent me a huge box of old photos in the mail from Binghamton, New York to York, S.C. where my hubby and I lived at that time. I never received them, and sadly my folks never thought to make copies. :-(( My Dad put a tracer on the package which was insured for $5000., but it just showed the package NEVER left the Binghamton, New York Post Office. Years of searching showed nothing. I can only think that someone working at the P.O. felt the package contained something very valuable, stole it and then just threw it in the garbage when they found only photos and letters. It's been so very long now that I've given up hope of ever finding it. I've been in contact with my Aunt Jane Hoxsie's (deceased) granddaughter who found some bits and pieces of information in her Grandmother and Grandfather's home. She still lives in Binghamton, New York and is trying to help me out...especially with the Allard side (my Grandmother's) side of the family and also searching for Disbro photos. I still don't have a photo of my Grandfather Disbro who died when I was a little kid. I think I last saw him when I was four. He was very, very old then and walked with a cane, but had a HUGE collie named "Topsy". And he smoked a pipe. That's all I can remember. There were lots of photos of him on the farm with my Grandmother, but sadly were in the lost box. If you could scan the civil war papers, though for my Great Grandfather, I will post them on my page. Thanks so much for helping. Hope to hear from other Disbro or Allard's out there who might be related.
