Interesting. You know Mercy Disbrow, along with Elizabeth Clawson were both given the water trial - the article only mentions that one woman was dropped into the water. Mercy was found guilty, sentenced to be executed, but was later reprieved, mainly due to a technicality that a juror had been substituted by another during the course of the trial. Please keep us informed on this matter if you run across any more about it. Mike Elaine Lane <deerlane2@earthlink.net> wrote: Thanks for the update - will be interested in the outcome. Saw this tonight on WTNH, channel * in CT. www.wtnh.com Bertha Hall Legislature considers bill denouncing Connecticut witch hunts By ConnPolitics.tv Staff, on Mar 20, 2008 Hartford (AP) _ Centuries after the fact, state lawmakers are hoping to bring justice to those judged during Connecticut's colonial witch trials. The Judiciary Committee is hearing testimony on a resolution that denounces the trials as shocking and the result of community-wide hysteria and fear. It's estimated that about 10 women were executed, mostly by hanging. Others were banished, fled the colony or indicted. I don't know. If you contact the author of the site, they should be able to correct it for you. I don't have Tim Isham or Amy Waters with any spelling in my database. Good luck. Harriet was my great grandmother. Timothy Isham, her son, was my grandfather. My family is very interested in learning more about our heritage - - thank you for all that you have accomplished. Elaine Lane deerlane2@earthlink.net EarthLink Revolves Around You.
Check in Cranbury, NJ, which is just south of New Brunswick. There are Disbrows there from the mid-1700s. Ruth Disbrow was married to my gggggrandfather, Isaiah Shaw after his first wife Catherine died (who may also have been a Disbrow). They were married in about 1768, and had at least five children: Isaiah, b. 1772, John, Henry, George and Samuel, circa 1781. Ruth had brothers in Cranbury: Samuel and Henry. There is a genealogy at the Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania by Donald Line Jacobus, "based on records of Edgar Francis Waterman "The Waterman Family, Appendix IV, The Isaiah Shaw Family. Hope this helps. Thank you for any suggestions. I am inquiring again about my ggggrandmother Rosetta Disbrow born 1802 (probably NJ) and died 10/31/1833. She was the wife of John A. Manley (b.1806) of New Brunswick NJ. Rosetta was buried in the First Reformed Church Cemetery in New Brunswick. During their marriage, Rosetta And John Manley has two children, Catherine A Manley (B 1827) and Francis Manley (B 1830). I wish I could make a connection to the right family. I understand that there may have been several Disbrow families in Middlesex County NJ in and about this time. Thanks for reviewing your files and seeing if there is a connection. I'm in Maryland right now and traveling to Beford County. I've found the Disbrow Cemetery (name is debatable though). It isn't marked, the stones have been buried but I'vew found someone who wants to clean it up and put a fence around it. They are the present owners of the old Disbrow property. Someone did do a reading in thge 80's so we do have something. This is a strange3 situation. The land was sold to the township in 1853 for a public cemetery. Seems the township doesn't know anything about it. Anyway, as I gather more information, I'll send you the info if you want to post it. This is the family of Abraham Disbrow of Ashland County OH. He's the one that died in the Civil War. I've pictures of some of the old structures on the land. Abraham's brothers was John and his father was Joseph. Joseph married Hannah Weimer in Frederick County MD. In researching that area I found that Joseph was an illegitimate son and was bound over to someone for 4 years in 1806. Now I don't know if he was really a Disbrow or if that was his mother's name. May never know that one. Arghh!!! Figured I might look for a present day Disbrow off that family and if I find one, then look to see if there is a Family Tree DNA project for the family. Anyway, have lots more to do in the next 2 days. Hope to learn something new. Sandy

Hello Nancy, I think I know why my emails with attachments will not go through to you. I think it is because you have contacted me through the Disbrow mailing list and replies should be brief. I do not think the list will accept attachments. Do you have an email address of your own I can send this information to you instead of through the list? Hello Nancy, As promised yesterday I have prepared a report for you on the descendants of Hannah Disbrow. It covers 5 pages. I tried sending it to you in one email with 5 pages attached. It was returned to me stating it was too big. I then sent you 5 separate emails with 1 page each attached. These were also returned to me saying too big for the system. The only other way I know of sending this to you is by "snail" mail. If you can give me your address I will post it to you by return airmail. Hello Nancy, I will certainly send you details of my line from Thomas Pearson Brown who married Hannah Disbrow to the present time. I will try and send this to you tomorrow when I have a bit more time. I will send it as an attachment in the form of a Genealogy Report from Family Tree Maker. I am very confused with all the Noahs. I have seen a Noah born 1772 and 1792 both died 19/4/1853. One married to Isabella Chillas the other married to Isabella Stanton. Can you sort this out for me? I would love to receive a copy of your line and anything else you can tell me about the Disbrows. Mike has told me about his book which I can get on CD from him. I might have to do that if I cannot sort out what i already have on the Disbrows. I have seen some family trees on Ancestry, but they all seem to have conflicting dates like I have mentioned above. I will write again tomorrow, I have to go out now. Regards, Judith. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Quigley" <nquigley@cupe.ca> To: <disbrow@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 11:03 PM Subject: Re: [DISBROW] Hannah Disbrow >I certainly can look in my files and get back to you....I am the descendant > of Reverend Noah and Isabelle Stanton and I do have lots of information on > Noah Disbrow who married Chillias....Noah came to New Brunswick, Canada > with > his widow mother and his sister Hannah as loyalists in 1774 (have to check > my records on dates) > > I of course would like more on your line as I have very little. DEar Michael, I have searched for my ggggrandmother Rosetta Disbrow. The best information I have is that she was born in 1802 in New Brusnwick NJ. She married John Adis Manley. She died in 1833 in New Brunswick NJ and is buried at the First Dutch Reformed Church there. I believe she had two children Catherine Ann Manley b. 1826 and Francis Manley b1830. I know there were Disbrow families in New Brunswick NJ but I can't make the connection. If I have emailed you before, sorry for the duplicate email as I have had some trouble with email lately. Thanks for you help, Alan Glines MICHAEL DISBROW <mdisbrow1@sbcglobal.net> wrote: >From - Mike Disbrow, listowner Judith - The information you want is in the first volume of my book "Descendants of Thomas & Mercy (Holbridge) Disbrow", pp. 117-18. I have your Hannah Disbrow b. 1801; d. 1885, buried in Fernhill cemetery, St. John, New Brunswick; m. 23 Apr. 1823 in St. John to Thomas Pearson Brown; she is called the "5th dau." of Noah in NB vital records; Hannah and Thomas had children John, Charles, Isabella and Le(?). She is mentioned in her father's will. Hannah is of the sixth generation of descendants of Thomas Disbrow, Sr. Her parents were Noah, Jr. and Isabella (Chillis) Disbrow, as you already know. Noah was son of Noah Disbrow, Sr. and his wife whose name may have been Maria (Scribner). Noah Sr. was son of Joseph and Abigail (Meeker) Disbrow; Joseph son of Thomas Jr. and Abigail (Godwin) Disbrow; thence back to Thomas Sr. whose parents have never been proven. There was another Hannah in the family and she was a sister of Noah Jr., and that is the one mentioned by Nancy Quigley in her reply to you. Many more details of this family are in the book, which is available now in only CD version from me. If you are interested contact me directly by email at: mdisbrow1@sbcglobal.net Hope this helps. I certainly can look in my files and get back to you....I am the descendant of Reverend Noah and Isabelle Stanton and I do have lots of information on Noah Disbrow who married Chillias....Noah came to New Brunswick, Canada with his widow mother and his sister Hannah as loyalists in 1774 (have to check my records on dates) I of course would like more on your line as I have very little. Obviously Hannah had children ...could you fill me in on this....and I will send you my information as well.....
