    1. Mailing list update
    2. Lainee Denton-Jones
    3. Hiya everyone, You should have received an email from Rootsweb by now detailing the fact that they are changing list software and the lists will be migrated over by groups. A-C lists are supposed to be migrated over on Thursday, 17 August. When the lists are migrated you should receive a new standard welcome letter for this list, just like you did when you first subscribed to the list. I am letting you know this so that you don't wonder why you are getting a new welcome letter. As the lists are migrated over, you will no longer have to add the -L when sending an email to the list. You only need to address your email as XXXX@rootsweb.com with XXXX being replaced with the name of the list. FOR AOL USERS: After these lists are migrated it is imperative for AOL users to check your spam folders. If you find list mail there then please be sure to CLICK THE *THIS IS NOT SPAM* link to send the list mail to the inbox. It is VERY important to help train the filters and let AOL know that this new server can be trusted. If you have any questions feel free to ask, and we will figure it out together. Thanks for your patience during this migration to the new server, Lainee Denton-Jones List Administrator

    1. Thanksgiving Dinner
    2. Lainee Denton-Jones
    3. All Americans know that this is the time of year when we start planning a huge meal and thinking of family that will be coming. For the next week, I would like to have you think about one or two ancestors, that if you could, you would like to have at Thanksgiving Dinner. Send this to the list, with who they and why you would like to talk to them. It can range from say "I would like to ask them what their mother's maiden name was" or "What made them decide to go from point A to point B". Please create an appropriate subject like prefacing it with Thanksgiving Dinner so that those that do not want to participate can simply hit delete. Have fun! Lainee Denton-Jones List Administrator

Surnames: DIRK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HiS.2ACEB/23.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Actually my query is about Solomon Dirk. When would he have been born? Solomon Dirk would have been grandfather to Clarence Nelson Dirk with whom my Aunt Minnie lived with for a period of time and Clarence married for his second wife Jennie Dirk, who had been married to my Uncle Jasper Johnson prior to her marriage to Clarence. The Solomon Dirk I refer to would have been born about 1826 and had wife Elizabeth. They lived in Columbia County, PA. Is this same Solomon Dirk?

I had an Uncle who died rather young of a rare heart disease. He was married to a Catherine . His name was Herman and they also had a son named Herman who as far as I know lives on the west coast Oregon/Washington area. You can e-mail me @SeaBlueSpec123@aol.com My name is Laura and My grandparents on my mothers side were Solomon and Lona Dirk. However Solomon may have started another family after he Left the pocono Mountain Farm where Lona and their 9 children Lived. they are/or were; Herman,Ann,Elsie,Bessie,Bill or (william),Harry,Mary and Dorothy ,she was the youngest was my mother. Solomon Left them when she was 5 years old. The explaination I was always given was that he was an alcoholic that drank up all the Farm profits . So my grandmother sent him on his way. As far as I know we never heard from him again. It would be nice if someone would contact me and tell me what My Grandfather was like providing that he made the side of him known that was ot the alcoholic. Anyone please contact me with Info . Thank you ,Laura

    1. Mother's Day Dinner
    2. Lainee Denton-Jones
    3. Hiya everyone, With Mother's Day fast approaching, I thought we could try something different on the list. Instead of a traditional roll call, how about a Mother's Day feast...what mother in your lineage would you like to have to dinner on Mother's Day? What things would you like to talk about? What questions would you ask? Make sure that the mother you choose pertains to this list. Have fun and hopefully make some connections! Oh yeah, and please remember to change the subject line to reflect the name of the mother so that the other listers don't have to open it if it isn't a name they are interested in. :) Lainee Denton-Jones List Administrator -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
