    1. Re: Dillon match list
    2. To Wayne Dillon (and the rest), ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 97-09-01 05:36:43 EDT, you wrote: >I have been trying to set up a web page listing all people who were born with >the surname of DILLON. The purpose of this page is to list the person along >with his/her birth/death dates, parents, spouse(s), and where on the internet >they can be located. > >I need your help. Is this just being redundant, or will this serve a useful purpose ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Personally, I feel this is a great idea. I have even thought of doing this myself. Often I am researching a name and it would be great to link to a referring website to link to the website that contains the name. This was part of the reasoning in providing links to websites and listing DILLION / DILLON members contained on them from my website - http://members.aol.com/Noil lid2/index.htm What I usually do is check the index at, what I consider, the best website for the DILLON surname on the internet - http://www.parsonstech.com/genealogy/ trees/ddillon/dillon.htm maintained by Danny Dillion. (My DILLION line evolves from the DILLON line located there). There is a ton of info there; but, it only covers one of the Dillon lines that have entered the United States. So, after I check that website, I then check the rest of the websites. Your idea would eliminate these extra steps. It does sound like a lot of work though: First, finding all the websites that contain DILLON family members. Second, keeping up with the continual changes at these websites. Third, dealing with the variant spellings of the DILLON surname. Finally, communication with the owners of these websites to avoid another episode of possible copyright infringements in our on-line genealogy world. Good Luck... Tom...
