My grand fathers name was Lee Grand Dillon. He changed his name from Grant to Grand for some reason connected to the Civil war. He was born in DesMoines. His family came to Oregon and had a mill in Astoria for awhile before returning to Iowa. Any information would help as this is all I know about my past.
I have a Grant DILLON born 16 Mar 1904 in Lineville IA. He was the son of Willis DILLON and Mattie MUSTAIN. Grant died 1 Sep 1976 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville. His father Willis DILLON was the son of Abraham DILLON and Jane GALPIN. Abraham was the son of William DILLON and Elizabeth (?). William and Elizabeth had three sons: Abraham, Henry and John. Abraham and Henry married GALPIN sisters (Jane and Emmeline Galpin). The Galpin farm was down the road from the DILLON farm in Decatur County, IA. William DILLON was born in OH in 1822. Unknown county and unknown parents. All three of their sons born in Monroe county, Ohio. I am looking for the parentage and ancestors of this William Dillon line. It is possible that William's parents came from Maryland to Monore County, Ohio in the early 1800s. I would sure welcome any information on these early DILLON connections. Thank you for your help.
