Ireland abt 1820, whose daughter Ros(e)anna DILLON b.Canada West 20 May 1843, d.Uxbridge Ontario 20 Oct 1911, married in Uxbridge abt 1865, John MANLEY b. County Mayo,Ireland, 24 Jun 1842, d. 20 Apr 1913. Both buried Sacred Heart Cemetery, Uxbridge Ontario. 3 sons: John James, Thomas Patrick and Christopher John, all born Uxbridge. OBIT: Obit for John Manley, Uxbridge Journal, 23 Apr 1913 - died 20 Apr 1913, 71 ys. 9 m. - in failing health for some months. - Irish settler, came to Canada as a lad with his parents from Co. Mayo, Ireland. - settled at Altona on the Pickering side. (Altona is in the southwest corner of Uxbridge Township on the Pickering-Uxbridge townline.) - The family later moved to Burke County. - John Manley remained in the Uxbridge area and married Rosanna Dillon - He settled on the 4th Concession of Uxbridge, clearing 50 acres which were later extended to 150. - he died with in 150 rods of the original homestead. - He was thrifty and industrious. served several years as Uxbridge Township councillor and was a school trustee. - Family: James Manley of Vanguard, Saskatchewan and Christopher and Thomas of Uxbridge Township. - Liberal in politics and Catholic in religion. - service by Father 0'Brien, sermon by Rev.father McCabe Anything sound familiar?
