I have Lydia Wright in my file with a note that says Hodgson is incorrect. I unfortunately misplaced a notebook that had my detailed notes in it when I moved a few months ago and I can't remember where I got this information. Almost every page I look at online says the name was Hodgson. Can anyone help clear this up for me?
The 1840 Census of Pensioners, Revolutionary and Military Services can be found at the website shown below. Although there may not be any individual pertaining to this surname list on the 1840 Census of Pensioners, other surnames may be of interest to researchers. The 1840 Census of Pensioners, Revolutionary and Military Services was originally compiled by the federal government from the 1840 U.S. Federal Census, which required enumerators (census takers) to list the names and ages of Revolutionary War and other federal military service pensioners in households. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/colonial/census/1840/index.html Happy Huntin' Jim Young
Hello, I am looking for anyone working on the JAMES DILLON line. James was the son of WILLIAM AND ELIZABETH DILLON. James b 1861 Linn County, Kansas married Mary BRIGHT on January 12, 1883. Lived in Kansas and Oklahoma (Oklahoma City and Shawnee) Last found on the 1910 census. Thanks Patty Dingman
History of Butler County Ohio: John DILLON was born in Trenton, Madison township, February 14, 1833. He is the son of Samuel DILLON and Eliza SCHAVIER, both now being dead. His parents came to this county at an early day. His grandfather, Samuel DILLON, was the first coroner every appointed in Butler County. John DILLON was married August 7, 1856, to Martha Jane HULL, daughter of Samuel and Susanna HULL, who are both dead. They came to this county in 1819. Mrs. DILOON was born May 14, 1834. They have had five children. Eliza E. MILLSPAUGH was born June 28, 1857; Mary E., May 27, 1859; Lewis A., April 4, 1866; Martha Jane, December 12, 1864; and Flora May, May 2, 1869. Martha Jane died January 27, 1868. One of Mr. DILLON's brothers, Samuel P., was in the late war. He was a member of Company D, Thirty-Fifth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and was wounded at Chickasaw Bluff, in the right hand. He now draws a pension. He is a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and is a minister of the Gospel of the Presbyterian denomination. Mr. Charles DILLON was originally a farmer, but has been a tile manufacturer for the fourteen years, in which he has excellent facilities. He usually manufactures about one hundred twenty-five thousand per year, finding ready sale for all he can make.
Hi, Does anyone have any information on the DILLING/DILLON families that resided in Guilford Co. NC in the late 1700s...early 1800s? I have a Mary DILLING (born ca 1774) married 20 Jan. 1791 Guilford Co., NC Charles TUCKER (b ca 1765, d 1840). Mary and Charles moved to Christian Co., KY in the early 1800s. They had the following children: Joshua, John, Jane, Eli, Roda, Kissy, Lucretia and Margaret. According to the 1800 NC census they two other sons born before 1800 that I have not yet found. Any information on the DILLING/DILLON familes of Guilford Co. NC would be most appreciated. I would love to find Mary's parents. Thank you...Patty
I am looking to identify and connect James Dillon and his wife Phebe Dillon with their proper parents and ancestors. In 1838 in Monroe County Ohio, James Dillon Jr and his wife Phebe sold land to a John Dillon in Monroe County. We believe that James Dillon (Sr) or James Dillon (Jr) was the father of my William Dillon born in 1822 in Ohio. I hope that some Dillon researcher out there has in their records a James Dillon married to a Phebe (?)Dillon. The time frame would be 1837. Thank you for your help. Perry Adams
Hi Perry. I have a Dillon family in neighboring Belmont Co., Ohio. Isaac Dillon is in Belmont for the 1830 census then is gone in 1840 when Rebecca (Hogue?) Dillon appears as head of household. In 1850 she (age 53) has kids Granville (27), El__ira (18), Rebecca H. (16). The 1840 census has only one boy in the household (age 15-19) which would be Granville, age 17. The 1830 census, however, has one more boy: Isaac Dillon (head) with 1 m 5-9 (this would be Granville age 7, 1 m 10-14 (unknown), 1 m 30-39 (Isaac), 2 f 5-9 (unknown), 1 f 30-39 (Rebecca). The age is off by a year or so, but the male 10-14 could be your William. Does anything else click? Terry Bava Dillon Researchers: I am still looking for a clue to connect my William Dillon with his proper parents and ancestors. William was born in 1822 in Ohio - most likely Monroe County as in the 1850 Census we find William living with his wife Elizabeth (?) Dillon and their three sons: Abraham age 6; Henry age 4 and Joh age 3. The maiden name of the wife of Elizabeth Dillon may have been Highley as there was an Elizabeth Highley living in the Dillon household in the 1840 census. In that 1840 Census there was a James Dillon family living in Monroe County with his wife and children. However, they are not shown in the 1850 census so expect that James died sometime between census counts. If we had the names of those children, we mught be able to track the family back. Thank you for your help. Best wishes, Perry Adams San Carlos, California ______________________________ _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Does anyone know anything about these people? They were living in Wisconsin 1860 through 1880 and probably longer. We are trying to find our James who disappeared from Vinton Co., Ohio between 1850-1860. The Wisconsin Dillons could be his. Thank you Mary Szymanowski
