Surnames: Dillon, Davis, Hensley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BAT.2ACIB/777.1.1.2 Message Board Post: We are also Dillon descendants from Robert Dillon and Sarah Messer. We have a little information on the Davises in Logan County gotten from "History of Logan County, W.Va." by Henry Clay Ragland written in 1896. These events were very early 1800's. William Davis came from Albemarle County (claimed to be first cousin of Thomas Jefferson). William married a Mrs. Hensley of Russel County. William and Mrs. Hensley had only one daughter. He married a second time to a Miss Runyon by whom he had two daughters - one married Jess Stratedge and the other married Jacob Runyon. Stepdaughter of William Davis and daughter of Mrs. Hensley married William Davis, the son of Thomas Davis of Albemarle County, Virginia. Thomas and the prior William were brothers. The younger William Davis, from whom all of the Davises of the Tug Valley descend, had four sons and two daughters. His sons were George, William, and Joseph (who had all married Miss Dillons -daughters of Christopher Dillon), and Henry who married a Miss Stotts. His two daughters married Daniel Hensley, Jr. and Jas. Bailey. Hope this helps in some way. Has to be a connection.

I wonder if you would consider sending out feelers to your relative friends about my query. I am looking for information about my beloved step-grandmother, Alice McClure Connors (Mrs. Francis John "F.J." Connors", a widower from Illinois). Her mother was LAURA DILLON. Alice did not have any children of her own, but raised my father, Frank John Connors and his two sisters, Mary Rose Connors Earle and Elizabeth Connors Glendenning-Denny from approximately pre-teens until they were old enuf to be on their own. I always remember her lovingly introducing my father to her friends as, "my son Frankie." She and my grandfather lived in the Bunker Hill area of downtown Los Angeles, California. After his death, she settled in North Hollywood, California where she died in 1952. As I recall, she was a charter member of both North Hollywood Chapters of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. If you and the other Dillons can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I may be reached here, or at mswanda@yahoo.com Thanks in advance, I am, Wanda Connors (McCoy) Davis

    1. [DILLON] Isacc Dillon d. Belmont Co. OH will
    2. Terry Chevako Bava
    3. I ordered a number of estate packets from the Belmont Co., OH courthouse in the hope of proving or disproving that my Rebecca (? maybe Hogue) DILLON was the widow of Isaac DILLON who d. Belmont Co. 1834. Unfortunately this was the only packet that consisted of a single page, with no executor's account or anything. The verbal will, later written down by a witness, simply leaves all his property to his wife then his children, whom he does not name. Has anyone tracking land transactions in the Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe Co. area of Ohio found a land transfer from Isaac Dillon to any other Dillon? Terry Bava PS I will be transcribing and posting other Dillon estate packet info in the next week.
