Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BAT.2ACIB/1068.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Ruth was buried as Ruth A Jeffries. Her husband was Orrin Lynch Jeffries born Apr 22, 1896, deceased Oct 18, 1929. He died from "the dreaded German mustard gas" from WW1. Ruth may have drawn a military pension of some sort as he was a sergeant. I haven't explored that. They had 3 children. In 1929 Alma was 8, Norma Jean was 3, and Emma Florence was 8 months. According to correspondence from my great grandfather Ruth and the kids went to North Vernon, IL. after receiving some money, insurance I think. it doesn't say if it was permenant or not.I believe that Orrin and Ruth may have resided in Wilkinsburg, PA .prior to his death. I have a picture of the children Emma and Norma from 1997. I will try to contact my aunt this weekend to see if she has an address for either of them, as they may be a good connection for you.I'll keep you posted.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BAT.2ACIB/1068.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Our Ruth Dillon would have been the one who married a Jeffries. Is the Ruth A. Dillon you mention buried as Ruth Dillon or Ruth Jeffries? I looked at the information I have on her, from the obits of three of her brothers, and it appears that "our" Ruth was still living in Pittsburgh. Also my iformation on her family from the 1900 census, when the family was living at 6371 Shakespeare Street here in Pittsburgh, does indicate that she was born in January of 1898. This seems to indicate a possible connection with "your" Jeffries. I do have some information, dating back to Ruth's DILLON grandparents, if that would be of use to you in your Jeffries research. In the meantime, I will look for Ruth's grave and send for her birth and death certificates from the state of PA, to see if I can get any more information. This seems promising! Please stay in touch!

I have checked over a 15 year period for births in England, for both of them but with no luck and am finally coming round to the idea that they possible came over from Ireland. According to Richard's marriage cert. Dennis was a "Traveller", an occupation carried on by Richard and his son (my grandfather) John. If you ever come across a Dennis - occupation traveller - let me know! Regards Eileen
