Hello everyone, I have been trying to set up a web page listing all people who were born with the surname of DILLON. The purpose of this page is to list the person along with his/her birth/death dates, parents, spouse(s), and where on the internet they can be located. I need your help. Is this just being redundant, or will this serve a useful purpose ? You can see a sample of what I am doing by going to: http://members.aol.com/wdillon896/dillon.html The only names listed so far are those on page "A". I borrowed some names from Decendants of Henry and Elinor Dillon to show how this list works. If I stepped on any toes in doing this, I apologize. Wasn't trying to steal anything. Credit has been given and If the authors of this page want the info removed, please let me know and it will happen. Thanks everyone. My Dillon genealogy can be found at http://members.aol.com/wdillon896/homepage.html Wayne Dillon, Salem, OR
Attention All Dillon List Subscribers, It's great to see so much action happening through the list! I am glad to see so many new members and the information they have posted! To the long time members of the list (and new members) that I have corresponded with during the last eight months and kept telling of my future plans for a website, at long last it's here. I finally have a presentable website for the DILLION surname and variant spellings. It doesn't have any fancy graphics; but, it's a start. My genealogy, located at the website, is still incomplete (what genealogy is ever complete?). I still have approximately 500 persons to enter in my data base. I will enter and upload this data as time permits. I have also provided many links to other websites on the internet that include DILLION or variant surnames. I invite you all to visit my website - <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/Noillid 2/index.htm">DILLION Family Genealogy-History</A> at http://members.aol.com/No illid2/index.htm. I hope you like what you find and hopefully it's useful in your research. Send me your comments in email to [email protected] or sign the guestbook located at the website. Sincerely, Thomas W. Dillion II

-- [ From: Cathy Douglas * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- ------- FORWARD, Original message follows ------- I have seen several posts concerning Dillons in Missouri with names similar to those in my Dillon files. My line comes from Adams County, PA but some of them went to MO. Andrew Jackson DILLON married Tamsen GILL c1863. Andrew died in PA 1894, but Tamsen died 1929 in St. Louis, MO. Andrew's brother Samuel died 1913 in Cunningham, MO. Perhaps some of Andrew's children also moved to MO. My line moved to NY. Andrew had a son Thomas J. (perhaps Jefferson?) born c1871. Does any of this fit anyone's family? Someone mentioned Mary and Catherine DILLON. Those names are very prevalent in my Dillon line, too. I hope I can help someone. I have certainly been helped by many others. Cousin Cathy in NH ------- FORWARD, End of original message -------

Hello, This is my first post to this newsgroup. I am searching for information on Catherine and Mary DILLON and hopefully some of their ancestors. I have very little information, but what I have is as follows. My great-grandfather was Arthur Milton SUMMERS b Sept 10, 1867 (in Illinois or Missouri), m Aug 16, 1893 (I think in Missouri), and d Oct 3, 1936 (I think in Missouri). His parents were Rufus B. SUMMERS and Catharine DILLON. Rufus was b Jun 29, 1829 (place unknown), m Mar 26, 1857 (place unknown), and date and place of death unknown. All I know about Catherine is she was b Jun 10, 1835. They had the following children: George W., Clara L., John A., Charles Edwin, Arthur Milton, Katy Florence, and (?). Rufus' brother, Abner, married Catherine DILLON's sister, Mary. Unfortunately, I have no other information on her or Abner or any of their children. If you have any information on Catherine or Mary DILLON or any of their ancestors, I would love to share information with you. Janice Evans
To All Members, I personally want to thank those members who have responded to my call for submitting information on their ancestral line and to those who have submitted queries and other research data. Senior members, who may have posted information on their line some time ago, may want to consider reposting their line for the benefit of newer subscribers. Granted, the messages are being archived on the DILLON list at RootsWeb since the move; however, messages archived at Maiser prior to the move are not yet available. At this point in time, instead of asking the newer members to learn the process of reviewing archived messages, it may be easier on the them for senior members to repost their line. However, I will gladly provide instructions for accessing the archived messages upon request. I would also like to further encourage all list members to post any research data collected while visiting public and/or genealogical libraries, reviewing microfilm, etc. Please consider posting information which does not pertain to your line as someone on the list may benefit. Thanks again to all who have made this list come alive with activity. Hopefully, some of this activity has resulted in finding new cousins and adding another ancestral generation to your family tree. At this moment, there are 106 members on the list. Happy Huntin' Jim Young

My great grandfather was Davis Lee Dillon born in Missouri August 23, 1863. He was sometimes called David Lee Dillon, but his birth record names him as Davis. He married Annie Margaret Buchta on June 4, 1890 in Arcata, California. Davis' father was John R. Dillon, unfortunately I don't have his birth date or place, but we know he died in 1919 in Arcata, California. We know that John R. Dillon was in St. Louis, Missouri and that is where he met his wife, Mary A. Tracey, they were married July 8, 1858. They lived on a farm in southern Missouri until February 2, 1870 at which time they moved to Arcata, California. They had at least 6 children: Davis (or David) Lee Dillon (my great grandfather), John W. Dillon, Mattie Dillon (married Harry Cline), Nan Dillon (married John McCarthy), Isaac Dillon, and a female Dillon that later married George Gunn. We know that Mary A. Tracey, who married John R. Dillon, was born August 22, 1840, so John R. Dillon was born somewhere around that time. Say between 1830 and 1837. He died in 1919, so if he were born in 1830 he would have been 89 years old when he died. I have searched through your internet site at parsonstech, and I can't find a connection. Any ideas on whether or not our trees are connected? Thanks for any help you can offer. Sincerely, Sue Twitchel [email protected]
Hello Dillon cousins, I have a problem. I am unable to find my grandparents (Georgie Dillon and Robert Mitchell Nicol) marriage certificate. They were married December 7, 1918. I am assuming it was some where in Ohio. As she was born in Lawrence County. She my Aunt Marie remarried after my grandparents past away and her new family kept everything of my grandparents. I have wrote asking them to look for this information. They wont. They wouldn't even give us any pictures of them. I don't understand cause they didn't know them or have any relations with them.. I guess this is where you could say "those things are lost for ever". If anyone could shed some light on this subject it would be so ever appreciated.. Shirley Bogart Harper has requested I post this information for her. If anyone can provide information on Mildred DELLION, please post her privately with a Cc: to the DILLON list. Thanks Jim Young ------------------------- John Milton Stewart was married to a Betty Kirkpatrick first and had children. At some point in later life he married a lady either in Arizona, Nevada, or Mexico that family all thought was named Lillian. Never-the-less when I found the probate record for John Milton in Mason County, TX 1957, it clearly states his wife is Mildred DELLION Stewart. I do not know if the DELLION was her first name or a middle name. Have been searching for the marriage record under Mildred DELLION now. Interestingly we have photos of this lady and several in the family gave the same description: Red Hair, Tall, and Thin, but no one knew particulars about her name or the marriage.

-- [ From: Raymond Russell * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- Hello DILLON list. I just joined your list this morning and would like to jump right in with a query. I am looking for the family of Esther Dillen. She was born 14 Jan 1816 in Juniatta County, PA and her family came into Carroll County, IN in 1838. That is all I know about her family. She married into my McCain line. 1 Feb 1844 she married David Dill McCain, whose wife Mary (Lafever) had died in 1842, leaving 2 small children. They went on to have 7 of their own. They lived their whole married lives in Carrollton Twp, Carroll Co , IN. Esther died 24 July 1898 and David died 6 Sep 1855. They are both buried in the McCain Cemetery, in the middle of a corn field, near Deer Creek, in Carroll Co, IN. I sure would be glad to find out any little snippet about her family.
