His given name was Zigmound Dytrych, he went by Joseph Dietrich, when he came to the US. I believe he was born or lived in Obiecanowo, Mazowiecki Poland, which would have been under Russian control at the time of his birth. I believe his father was Andrew (or the equivelent in Polish) and his mother was EWA/EVE Gabrieseska (can't find anynames spelt that way may be Gabryszewska or similar) He alternates between Russia Poland and Poland when indicating his place of birth, so I believe he was actually Polish. I have a birthdate of SEP 26, 1881, and according to his 1920 Census in Boston MA, he came to the US in/around 1906. I believe he came to NY 1st, and then moved with my G.Grandmother to MA - specifically Lawrence MA in 1913, seemed to stay in the area, moving to Worcester and finally to Boston around 1918. They had a total of 6 children - 4 that lived to adulthood. The family gets seperated in 1922, and he is never heard from again. Don't know if he left MA or USA all together or what. May have started another family in MA or another state? Finally- I have a child of theirs that passed that was named JOHN- this is leading me to believe he may have had a brother with that name. Maybe JAN and then when they got to US he was called JOHN or maybe like him- Zigmund to Joseph, that was the "english" name he picked when he came here. Do any of these names/places ring any bells with anyone? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I would love to find out what happened to him after 1922.
