Author: cwowretusmc Surnames: Dietrich, Deitrich, Carmany Classification: bible Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dietrich/588/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Philip Dietrich born in Lebanon Pennsylvania married Elizabeth Carmany about 1823 in Annville/Lebanon Pa. I have been researched to the ends attempting to find a marriage record on both and/or birth record from a church to no avail. I have paid 2 researchers, traveled to Lebanon my mothers place and visited the historical societys in the surrounding area but no luck. There off spring married into the Zimmersman's and Zieglers but I cannot locate any living currently. In order to allow my sons and grand sons to join the SAR I need some proof. The SAR will not use old records prior to 1961 because when then moved from DC to KY., they lost a lot of the records. They are afraid of forgery's. So any records on Ancestry are not good. The one church I thought that Philip and Elizabeth may have been married in was the Derry Church but the records were burnt up in a fire in 1884. Go figure. So, now I have to look else where. One piece that may still be out there. On 17 Sept 1965 an article selling antiques and other house hold items appears for several days in the Lebanon paper. It mentioned a Enchirdion or hand book by Philip Dietrich and many more items. I know by one account that a family Bible did exist. So I am asking for help to find that Bible if any one has any suggestions I would be most greatful. Dave Wyble Sr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I would take the spelling from the arrival manifest as the spelling used in "old country". It would have not been too difficult to sort of "disappear" as to change the spelling of a surname in them old days. use one step/gold form www.stevemorse.org Maybe you can find him. Possible his name was transcribed incorrectly. He could have come thru Boston. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have little to nothing on him. I only have the 1920 census where he mentions an arrival around 1906/07?. I have no idea if he became a citizen- have not found any record of that. As of 1920- he was not - at least that is what he claimed on the census. Im guessing he came in thru NY. My G.Grandmother did and so I assume he did too. I do have a copy of his marriage license from the state of MA. It states his mothers name as Eva Gabriseska and his father as Andrew Ditrich. He says his birthplace is Poland and its his 1st marriage and this was August 17, 1921. Additionally, I have his 1st -2 childrens original baptism records from 1913 and 1914. And it seems to identify his home town as Obiecanowo Makow Poland. Finally- supposidly, the true spelling of the last name is Dytrych which is how his WWI draft reg card is filled out. But it was often mispelt, and the family finally adopted Dietrich, but he was gone by then, so don't know if he did too. Thanks again for your help Denise Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: denisegolden38 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dietrich/587/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Im trying to find my Great Grandfather. His given name was Zigmound Dytrych, he went by Joseph Dietrich, when he came to the US. I believe he was born or lived in Obiecanowo, Mazowiecki Poland, which would have been under Russian control at the time of his birth. I believe his father was Andrew (or the equivelent in Polish) and his mother was EWA/EVE Gabrieseska (can't find anynames spelt that way may be Gabryszewska or similar) He alternates between Russia Poland and Poland when indicating his place of birth, so I believe he was actually Polish. I have a birthdate of SEP 26, 1881, and according to his 1920 Census in Boston MA, he came to the US in/around 1906. I believe he came to NY 1st, and then moved with my G.Grandmother to MA - specifically Lawrence MA in 1913, seemed to stay in the area, moving to Worcester and finally to Boston around 1918. They had a total of 6 children - 4 that lived to adulthood. The family gets seperated in 1922, and he is never heard from again. Don't know if he left MA or USA all together or what. May have started another family in MA or another state? Finally- I have a child of theirs that passed that was named JOHN- this is leading me to believe he may have had a brother with that name. Maybe JAN and then when they got to US he was called JOHN or maybe like him- Zigmund to Joseph, that was the "english" name he picked when he came here. Do any of these names/places ring any bells with anyone? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I would love to find out what happened to him after 1922. But any info back to POLAND would be great as well. Thanks Denise Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: lavlav Surnames: Dietrich, Dietrick, Dreier, Dreyer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dietrich/583/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for connections to Peter Dietrich Dietrick who married Mary Dreier (Marie Dreyer?) in March 1854 at St Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia PA. I believe they first settled in Camden NJ but may have moved later. The July 1860 census for Camden shows a Peter Dietrich age 26 (born 1834) and Mary Dietrich age 29 (born 1831), both from France, living with their 3 children: Charles Dietrich age 5 (born 1855), Helen Dietrich age 3 (born 1857), and Margaret Dietrich age 1 (born 1859). I can not find this family after the 1860 census. I think this Mary Dreier Dreyer may have been Anna Maria Dreyer, born in Lutzelbourg Lorraine. I have done a lot of research about the Antoine Dreyer & Catherine Berger family from Lutzelbourg. They had 8 children in Lutzelbourg. All children from this family are accounted for except for Anna Marie. Each of the Dreyers emigrated to the Philadelphia and NJ area around 1852 or 1853. They were German culturally although from France. There is a Peter Dietrich listed on the same ship manifest, SS Republic, in October 1851, along with Amand Dreyer, Anna Marie's brother. Peter and Amand may have been friends. They were both teenagers, 17 and 18 respectively, and probably traveled together to the Philadelphia area. Any suggestions appreciated.
