Surname: Dick, McCann, Sterling ------------------------- Pneumonia is Fatal to Aged Woman Near Medoc, MO Special to the Globe. (date not mentioned-believed to be 1918) Medoc, MO-March 12--Mrs. Anna McCann Dick , widow of William Dick, both pioneers of Jasper County, died in her home near here at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. Death was caused by pneumonia and followed one week's illness. Funeral services were held in the home at 2 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Johnson of Nashville, pastor in charge of the Medoc Methodist Church. Burial was in Weaver cemetery. Mrs. Dick was born in County Down, near Belfast Ireland, January 5 1850. In 1855, with her parents,she came to Indianapolis, Ind., and later lived on a farm in Illinois. In 1869, with her parents, she came to Jasper Co. and in 1871 her father settled on the farm on which she died. She married William Dick in 1879. William Dick, a native of Scotland, died March 23, 1914. Two children survive, Mrs. H. W. Sterling of Duenweg, and Alexander McCann Dick, who manages the farm near this place. For several decades Mrs. Dick had not missed a meeting of Sunday school or church here except when prevented by illness. She was a member of the Methodist Church. The McCann and Dick families have been among the most prominent in this locality and are among the survivors of the first settlers in this pioneer district of the county. Mrs. Dicks brother, Alexander McCann, who died several years ago, was one of the pioneer stockmen of this community, and her husband was one of the better farmers of Jasper County. -- Rosemary Miller Johnstown, PA
