Judi, You just can't imagine how excited I was to find this record. I only wish I had taken German in school and also wish I knew what it said. Another fellow german researcher told me that Daniel Dick was a musician. Daniel and Philippina are my 2nd great grandparents. My fathers first name is 'Dick' after them. He's constantly being called Richard even though his real name is Dick. I also found birth records for all their siblings (Philippina and Daniel's brothers and sisters) and their kids too! They were all born in either Essweiler or Bosenbach which is in the Pfaltz region. I only found out where they were born from the Dick family bible. Boy was I lucky to have the name of the town and also because the towns still exist in Germany today. I have most of the birth records scanned in if you're interested. Anyway, here's my Dick family info: Descendants of Peter Dick 1 Peter Dick . +Maria Maurer m: 12 December 1833 ...... 2 Jacob Dick b: 05 November 1834 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 16 November 1834 ...... 2 Catharina Dick b: 20 May 1837 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 28 May 1837 ...... 2 Philipp Dick b: 06 April 1840 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 19 April 1840 ...... 2 Daniel Dick b: 15 December 1843 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 24 December 1843 .......... +Philippina Jung b: 23 February 1843 in Civil, Essweiler, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany Christening: 05 March 1843 m: 10 February 1869 .............. 3 Karolina Dick b: 28 August 1870 in Essweiler, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany .............. 3 Jakob Dick b: 01 March 1872 in Essweiler, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany .............. 3 Ida Dick b: 16 January 1876 in Essweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany d: 05 March 1951 in Dedham, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts .................. +Karl Schmitt b: 10 August 1868 in Bosenbach, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany m: 27 June 1894 d: 1917 in Massachusetts .............. 3 Wilhelmina Dick b: 17 November 1878 in Essweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany d: in West Roxbury, Suffolk County, MA .................. +Robert Carnes b: 06 April 1879 d: May 1969 in West Roxbury Suffolk County MA 02132 .............. 3 Amalia Dick b: 03 October 1884 in Essweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany d: Bef. 1984 ...... 2 Philippine Dick b: 15 December 1843 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 24 December 1843 ...... 2 Margaretha Dick b: 19 January 1850 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 30 January 1850 ...... 2 Maria Dick b: 19 January 1850 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 30 January 1850 ...... 2 Peter Dick b: 19 January 1850 in Civil, Bosenbach, Bayern, Germany Christening: 30 January 1850 Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: Outsider AngelSpider <xmaself@integrityonline.com> To: Nancy M. Hello List: About a year ago, I wanted to join a Dick list, but the only one available, was the one I joined, the Deck list. There were one or two of us that were researching The Dick Family. My line of Dicks, James and Mary Dinsmore Dick settled in Indiana Co., PA in 1811. I an particularly interested in Thomas Dick who married Margaret Hice; John Dick who married Crissey Steetle; Minnie Dick who married Charles Cable - lived in Johnstown, PA I have volunteered to maintain the Dick surname board on rootsweb, and have a page called Dick family Pages, on which I posted alot of research that I found that was NOT my family. Please check them out. (I have a list for the Cable and Moraca family. Lots of people have joined the Cable list, but very little "talking". ) Hannah Sophia Dick sounds very familiar - check the notes on the Dick Family Page. http://genforum.genealogy.com/dick/ Dick Surname Board at GenForum http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/d/i/DICK/ Dick Surname Resource Board http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dickfamily/index.htm Dick Family Pages -- most information from Indiana County, PA. From here you can go to the Dick surname Boards, and post queries, obits, wills, pensions, deeds, etc. http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/m/i/l/Rosemary-C-Miller/ODT1-0001.html James Dick Family - from FamilyTree Maker Anyone else researching those Indiana Co. I am looking for any information on Sebastian and Anna Dick. They came from...well, we all thought Germany but I found naturalization papers on file that say Hungary. Sebastian's mother was Agatha. Anna Scherer, his wife. Three children: Marie, my grandmother, 95 years young now, Joseph, and Elizabeth. Sebastian came over in 1903 and died in 1906. Both Sebastian and Anna are buried in Richardton, North Dakota. Anna died in early 1970s. I know little else. Any help will be gratefully accepted. Patricia

Thanks for that wake-up call Richard, I'd almost forgot that I was on a DICK mailing list! I guess it's time for me to post what I have. I haven't had much luck looking around for my grandmother's family. Her name was Litha Ellen DICK b.14 Sep 1887, d. 11 Apr 1967 in Mintonville, Casey County, KY. Her husband was Henry Trimble "Bud" WALLACE b. 25 Sept 1881, d. 4 MAR 1964 in Casey co. KY. They had 9 children. My father Larrie WALLACE had written a list before he died listing what he knew of his ancestors. He listed his mother as "TLitha" . I figured her given name might have been Telitha, but on her gravestone in the Carter Ridge Cemetery in Mintonville, KY she is listed as "Litha". He listed her father as Capt. James G. DICK b. 23 Aug 1829, d. 3 Dec 1894. He was the 13th child of 14. He married Sarah Elizabeth Sellers b. 22 Nov 1852, d. Aug 1928. My father listed their children as: 1) Alice DICK GODSEY b. 1 Feb 1879. 2) Genetta Jane DICK DAULTON b. 15 Nov 1880. 3) Mary Florence DICK COWAN b. 11 Oct 1882. 4) Mattie DICK MORROW 13 July 1884. 5) TLitha E. DICK WALLACE b. 14 Sept 1886. James G. DICK's mother's surname was CHRISTIAN. Sarah E. Sellars mother was a ROBERTS. Does anyone connect with any of this? Thanks, Karen Wallace Thamann
Patricia, This is a copy of what I sent to another member of the Dick list: I don't have a lot of info on the Dick family. My grandmother's maiden name was Dick. I only have them going back to John Mason Dick born in 1788 in VA. He died in Somerset, OH in 1870. Let me know if you are interested. What Dick info do you have? Patricia, I am copying the list on this as well, in case others have or are looking for the same family. Dick Sommer Stillwater, MN
