    3. Hello all, Wendy Dewhurst has sent me a recipe of her grandmother's and some background on the Dewhurst Butchers Limited. I did a bit more research myself and added a bit more. Pictures are coming soon... http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~jmbhome/standpies.html Meanwhile, this was on the Lancashire-L: Subject: [LAN] BITS OF OLD BLACKBURN -5 Some more extracts:- 1899 "Higher Ouzebooth is the name of the farmhouse bering the date 1672 over the porch, which stands near the summit of the hill n the northerly side of Blackburn. The architecture of the place at once proclaims it to have been the residence of a family of well to do Yeoman or country gentlemen and the initials over the door (T & KM) are without doubt those of the builders probably THURSTON AND KATHERINE MAUDSLEY etc., etc., On the enclosure of the Blackburn common in 1618, Thurston MAUDSLEY of Ouzebooth and John DEWHURST of Beardsworth Green were described as the only copyholders in Blackburn, and MAUDSLEY was allotted seven acres of Revidge Moor as his share of the spoil. Revidge Moor occupied by Mr. VARLEY, and BEARDWOOD, are still copyhold, but Ouzebooth has been enfranchised ist last freeholder being Mr. William Thomas CARR wjho purchased the estate some years ago. It is now the freehold property of Thos. A. ASPDEN, Higher Ouzebooth, the house depicted in our sketch, is at present occupied by Mr. William ALTHAM a farmer, together with 26 acres of land. Cheers, Jana
