Regulars will have seen these lot pretty recently, but here they are again, responding to Jana's roll-call. I am off to Cornwall for a week (as of this evening) so apologies in advance if I do not respond to queries. Here goes, most recent first: My Mother's maiden name was JEAN DEWHURST. My Grandfather is DAVID DEWHURST, b. 30/09/1915. He was the youngest of 8 (?) children: GEORGE DEWHURST b. 1896 (?) MARTHA DEWHURST b. 1897 HANNAH DEWHURST AGNES DEWHURST ROSE DEWHURST MARY DEWHURST ELIZABETH DEWHURST We are in contact with one of MARTHA DEWHURSTS relatives: The Eldest son, George, was killed in the First War. My Great-Grandfather was named GEORGE DEWHURST b. 1852 (?): he married three times - all of the children listed above were by his second wife, ELIZA WIGGLESWORTH. They were married in Chorlton, Manchester. On the two marriage certificates of his I posess he is listed as a "piano tuner". I have had trouble identifying him in the 1881 census, tho. I may have a candidate - a "beer seller" with a wife called MARTHA DEWHURST. I have made contact with a living WIGGLESWORTH relative. My Great-Great-Grandfather was named DAVID DEWHURST - as yet, I know little about him. DAVID DEWHURST 's details come from his son GEORGES DEWHURST 's second marriage certificate. He may have been alive in 1896, as he is not yet listed as "deceased" on said certificate. His profession was listed as a Wheelwright. (by the time David's son George was re-married in 1919, David is listed on George's marriage cert as "Deceased"). Regards all, Richard Kernick richard@kernick.co.uk
