    3. Thanks Terry. That was quick again. This is the same Mary Ann who was born in Churchstanton and after her 2nd husband died she took on this job apparently and was living there with one of her grandchildren from Bristol in 1871. It was a big comedown from being a landowner's wife - her first husband - but when he died the property went to his elder brother alone and then her eldest son. Bruce is from the second son of a second son and in those days they missed out usually. Poor Mary Ann had to go out cleaning as a charwoman when she married again to Robert Pearcey as he was an ag lab and often unemployed as well as being quite a lot older than her. I think he was a Pearcey from Broadhembury if you can find a connection to that family.
