There is an article on the Exeter City Site about the freedom of the city: http://www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3470&listid=9294 It does quote one reference work that should help if you can find a copy: - "Exeter Freemen 1266 - 1967" Edited by Margery M.
