    3. Another " long shot " Elizabeth is to look at newspapers and try to build up a history of the area through reading them. For instance we know that Rev. E. EDGELL of West Alvington must have been the vicar there in 1814 because his marriage notice is in the Oxford Journal dated Sat. May 14th 1814. Then by looking at the West Alvington PR's we see that he has signed off as Edward EDGELL in 1806 By 1849 in the London Standard has Rev. Douglas MACDONALD is the Vicar. By 1859 Rev COLE is Vicar In The Morning Post [London] in 1860 the death notice appears for Rev. Edward Cole appears, he was Curate of Rodden in Somerset, formerly of West Alvington. I will go through my Devon Life magazines to see what I can find, but do not hold your breath that I will find anything.
