Is the Bampfield discussion still on? Edward, the son of Joan, was captured by Moroccan pirates. Was Joan able to obtain the ransom for him in 1676 or did Edward languish in prison or as a galley slave?
Hi, all I can find in Linda Colley`s book Captivity is that single sentence , that in 1676 a Charity brief was authorised to help Joan raise the ransom for her son Edward. It doesn`t say and there are no notes , whether or not he was rescued . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gion Tobac" <giontobac@outlook.com> To: <devon@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 13, 2013 12:46 AM Subject: [DEV] Bampfield > Is the Bampfield discussion still on?
