The first of this Duder family that came to Newfoundland was Thomas Duder bn c. 1785 at Kingskerswell, died Aug 01, 1855 in Newfoundland. He was married to Ann Congdon bn. c. 1783 died Feb 12, 1863 at St John's, Newfoundland. It seems all 6 of their children were born in Devon and all (Mary Congdon Duder, John Congdon Duder, Charles Robert Duder, Henry John Duder, Edwin Duder) died in Newfoundland except Frederick Duder who died as an infant in Devon. This Duder family was a well known successful business family in Newfoundland. I was in touch with her on the Fidonet network in the 1990s, and as Fidonet is largely defunct, I thought I would try to see if she had an e-mail address and came across this: Marianne PHILSON Death Notice (Archived) Published in The New Zealand Herald on Aug. 2, 2012 First 25 of 44 words: PHILSON, Marianne (nee Duder). Loved and respected cousin of John and Ross Duder, Nelson Webster and families. Her skill, passion and dedication in researching and... so, too late. I have followed some fairly tenuous links between the STOOKE family of Kingskerswell to my STOOKE family of Ashton/Trusham, and need more information to make them certain.
