    3. Apologies Listers, if this duplicates a message from my Yahoo account that has not yet appeared in the list. Yahoo has previous history of such glitches so I'm posting this from a different email. ----------------------------------------- Len - Not a family of interest to me but I searched around and found no record of such a William's baptism, not in FMP's Devon Baptisms, but Ancestry has William Hamlyn in the 1841 England Census Age: 9 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1832 Where born: Devon, England Civil Parish: Widecombe in The Moor Piece: 229 Book: 15 Folio: 6 Page Number: 6 Household Members: Name Age Fancras Hamlyn 45 Blacksmith Elizabeth Hamlyn 40 John Hamlyn 15 Sarah Hamlyn 15 Aaron Hamlyn 11 William Hamlyn 9 Sibylla Hamlyn 5 Avis Hamlyn 5 Mary Hamlyn 2 Image reads as Pancras. Have you perhaps found him mistranscribed as Thomas elsewhere? See http://blacksmiths.mygenwebs.com/devonhm-1.php#H That William is still living with his parents in 1851, when all of the family are recorded as born in Widecombe. I don't find any of those siblings baptised at Widecombe but FMP does have Pancras baptised there in 1795, but no Elizabeth Coleman born there. It seems rather unlikely that Pancras and family lived elsewhere before he returned to Widecombe very soon before 1841. Perhaps he became nonconformist so not in the CofE parish register? Or is this perhaps enough for you to eliminate this William? I am trying to find out more information on William HAMLYN who was born in Widecombe in the Moor about 1833. It is possible his parents may have been Thomas HAMLYN and Elizabeth COLEMAN. In 1856 he married Ann Jane McVITY (numerous spellings) in South Australia. I have a list of their children. Currently I can't link this HAMLYN line in with the 'main' HAMLYN line in my data. Looking for any information on Thomas and/or his parents. I would be grateful to receive any data from any other 'searcher' interested in HAMLYN. 2. Apparently there has been a small problem which seems to have bounced some, deleted some, stripped contents and duplicated postings. We were not told about this! I've just found out. 3. Hi Terry; I see from my membership of other U.K. lists, this problem appears fairly widespread. Derbyshire is a classic example.
