Afternoon all, I am sure I have looked in every conceivable place for death/burial of Eustace Leopold Came 1892 and his wife Violet Anna [Nee CRANCH] born 1900 I know that he lost a leg in the 1st World War. He was at one time is Essex, then back in Devon. He had a daughter Josephine 1923 who would have been born in/nr Teignmouth 1923 There is a Violet Came buried Teignmouth in 1961 [CD] but her age does not match her birth of 1900. I wonder if this is a mistake on the part of whoever gave the information!! I am inclined to think it is her. She does not appear to be with Eustace Came in 1939, but have been unable to find her after 1929 in Teignmouth. If anyone can confirm that the 1961 is Violet, I would appreciate that please, and then, where is Eustace?? Regards Bev
Bev, Both FMP and Ancestry have Medal cards and Silver War Badge info on Eustace. Ancestry has the images. Ancestry also has War Pension info but under their Fold3 site at an extra cost but they offer a 7 day trial. The medal card seems to be blank but "Over one million Silver War Badges were issued to men and women who were honourably discharged due to illness or injury during World War One." Eustace received his 9th Nov 1918. Cheers Paul -----Original Message----- From: B. BTW For anyone interested I have also found a Henry Came c 1842 who was living at 21 Orchard Gardens when he died in 1910. There must be a link to these two families. Hi Bev, What makes you think that your Violet CAME (Nee CRANCH) was born in 1900, as having looked at electoral rolls/census/Probate.BMD Index etc I believe that she was born DEC Q 1893 - Stoneham Registration District. This would then make her age at Death/Burial match what is given on the indexes for the death in 1961. Tim Treeby DFHS: 13926 On 27/11/2018 03:15, B. According to 1929/1930/1931 Electoral Rolls was living at 28 Orchard Gardens, Teignmouth with Eustace CAME and a Josephine Caroline CRANCH and a William John Roope CRANCH, who i believ to be her Mother and brother. Have found them on 1939 Register at 22 Orchard Gardens, Teignmouth. Violet is transcribed as CARNE on FMP not CAME so is probably why you couldn't find her. Hi Tim I do need a good kick up the B.., don't I? I dismissed the Violet of 1893 without double checking. It now does appear that she is the correct one, so thanks for alerting me so that I did double check. Have more to do now. Now I have to wonder what happened to Violet Anna CRANCH of 1900 to see what happened to her. Regards and thanks again, I sure appreciate it.
