I am conducting a one-name study of the PLESTER surname, the website for which is: www.plester.info By the early 19th century, the largest number of Plesters were to be found around the OXF / NTH / WAR borders with a much smaller group in London. However, I have encountered the name in Devon and other southern and western counties (although rarely) and, with a name this rare, I'm inclined to think there is a common root somewhere.
