Adding to this item 1) I did not see the start of this conversation so may be making a mistake, but A further exploration to check first names of a marriage; (especially in this case), Look for William Seaward in the 1841 census with a Maria present and nobody shows on Ancestry Looking for a Maria Seaward in the 1841 census does not have anybody in Devon. There is however, 3 young Seaward Children (one of them a William) (ages 5,3,1) living with a Berry family in Devonport. That may just add to the puzzle rather than clarify it.
