Hi, what records have you accessed in the US ? I believe that the census are online and vital records too , that would seem your best bet. There are Cobey in the 1820 onward emigrant lists to New York but I don`t have world wide Ancestry access. In 1861 Mary Cobey is a widow, living in Tormoham , with Mary A Barton? described as dau , unm, 22 , ironer, b Buckfastleigh, Daniel Coby, ? son but with some other word or letters added, 18 , porter , b Plymouth, and George Pyne or Pym , nephew, 13 , porter , b Buckfastleigh. In the 1871 there is a Richard Coby , although it may well be Coley, married, 41, which makes him b 1830 , able seaman , b Plymouth. on board the Cornish Diamond . There is a Daniel Cobey death in the Sept 1868 quarter in Lambeth aged 55 . Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for answering my email, l have got all the other news you have sent me. But the only one l seen not to get is if or when he ever came back to England. The piece of paper l have got says, from the USA is Family Name Cobey, Given Name Micheal,Title and Location of Court, COMMON PLEAS COURT. NEW YORK COUNTY, Date of Naturalization OCT.VS,1865,Volume 303, Copy of Record 97,Address of Naturalized Person 77 MUTT, ST,N.Y.CITY, fORMER N ATIONALITY ENGLISH.This is all I have got ,but even the researcher cannot find anything.
