To the gentleman who was interested in this name. Have you looked on World Vital Records? There are some Ref to this name, I have saved images for what I can. He is mentioned in the below books which appear to be available through Abe Books etc. The Magazine of American History with Notes & Queries. Vol 19 I saved the page for this Directory but sadly I do not know a date for it, but it occurred to me that this Eber could be his father who lived at Greenfield so named his son Greenfield [wild guess really] New England Business Dorectory has: Eber N. LARABEE of Greenfield Mass: Saw Mills pg 457 History of New London County, Connectcut With Biographical Sketches of many of it's Pioneers. [Could not see the name in the clipping though] Hall Ancestry by Charles Samuel HALL Has The widow LEE married, second, Greenfield LARABEE of Norich; and third, Mr. CORNISH, by whom she had a son whose descendants live in Simsbury. Apparently she was a the widow of Thomas LEE, her son Thomas LEE, in his first Will made in 1703, mentions his daughter Sarah etc. The Park Record: Containing an Account of the Ancestry & Descendants of Thomas Kinnie PARK & Robert PARK of Groton, Con, & Grafton, Vt., pg 12 Has Alice, b........m. Greenfield LARABEE, Mch. The Family Forest descendants of Sir Robert PARKE by Bruce Harrison
Bev, Plenty has been written about Greenfield LARRABEE and his American descendants. None of them delve into, or even speculate about, his English origins. I am familiar with the references you sent, and they do not include any mention of his English origins. Hence my query to the list. I just thought here had to be somewhere who has tripped over a LARRABEE-GREENFIELD marriage in Devon or the use of GREENFIELD as a Christian name in Devon. The first Greenfield LARRABEE married a woman who was born in Rusper, Sussex, but I don't think the colonial settlers were too picky about marriages within their own county affiliations. BTW, I am also a PARKE descendant (as per the last references), The family was from Suffolk, I believe. Right now I think the tack to take is to determine the home port of the Phoenix, on which Greenfield LARRABEE was a sailor. I have a feeling it might be Plymouth or Falmouth. And then the assumption would be that sailors would be recruited from the nearby area. David Langenberg Newark, Delaware, USA On Jan 28, 2014, at 12:39 AM, B.
