A Register of Ships, Employed in the Service of the Honorable United East India Company 1760-1810. on Google Books By the late Charles Hardy & Horatio Charles Hardy - a fascinating book on vessels, captains, payment of wages, uniforms, stocking of ships, etc. Listing also of some of the crew. Found my 3rd Great-grandfather in there: Charles Olliver Worth 1749-1800 of Washfield and Bristol. Take a look. Edna - Ottawa

    3. Many thanks for this. I found on Wikipedia: Records Unlike all other British Government records, the records from the East India Company (and its successor the India Office) are not in The National Archives at Kew, London, but are stored by the British Library in London as part of the Asia, Pacific, and Africa Collection: see India Office Records. The catalogue is searchable online in the Access to Archives catalogues.[37] Many of the East India Company records are freely available online under an agreement that the Families in British India Society have with the British Library. Published catalogues exist of East India Company ships' journals and logs, 1600-1834;[38] and of some of the Company's daughter institutions, including the East India Company College, Haileybury, and Addiscombe Military Seminary.[39] Mike -----Original Message----- From: devon-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:devon-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of liverpud Sent: 09 January 2014 00:04 To: DEVON-L Subject: [DEV] East India Company A Register of Ships, Employed in the Service of the Honorable United East India Company 1760-1810. on Google Books By the late Charles Hardy & Horatio Charles Hardy - a fascinating book on vessels, captains, payment of wages, uniforms, stocking of ships, etc. Listing also of some of the crew.
