    3. Okay, I give up....... and I was so determined not to have to ask, but can SKS please tell me how I can get the full story on the below event. Given we were discussing piracy a few days ago, I thought it would be good to look into it some more. I suspect one has to be a subscriber. Is anyone on the List a subscriber please. 3. Hi Bev There is a site devoted to the Cecil Papers at Hatfield House. There are apparently four main sources and I have copied in a part of what I noticed: The Calendar of the Cecil Papers Historical Manuscripts Commission, Calendar of the Manuscripts of the Most Honourable The Marquess of Salisbury [. . .], 24 vols (London 1883-1976) Haynes/Murdin transcripts of selected Cecil Papers A collection of state papers, relating to affairs in the reigns of King Henry VIII. King Edward VI. Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth, from the year 1542 to 1570 [. . .] Transcribed from original letters and other authentick memorials [. . .], ed. by Samuel Haynes (London, 1740) A collection of state papers relating to the reign of Queen Elizabeth, from the year 1571 to 1596. Transcribed from original papers and other authentic memorials [. . .], ed. by William Murdin (London, 1759) It looks like the Calendars were published and so should be available from a reference library. The site also has digitised the documents so you can view the originals on-line if you want to. The problem may be in getting the references to tie up, which may be what Liz was aluding to. 2. Since the family has been mentioned, I a number of years back during my grab any Family History book that I came across era. Managed to get my grubby little mits on a book called "The Cecils of Hatfield House" by one David Cecil. I did at the time I obtained it, per chance put it on my computer. I never went further with making an ebook from the 320 pages. I think it must be quite a comprehensive Family History from the number of pictures. However anyone interested in the Cecils may ask me questions. However, I must admit to not reading it, other than glance at the pedigree contained in it pages. So you may have to bear with me on information on individuals in those pages.
