It is somewhat later, but I have a subsequent Thomas Bale: " Mary PHELPS, a daughter of John Phelps and Joan Salisbury, his wife, was baptized in Shepton Beauchamp, Somerset, on January 11th., 1813. At the 1851 census for S. B., Mary 38 was an annuitant, living with niece Anna 16. On November 20th., 1852, in Shepton Beauchamp church, Mary married Thomas BALE, widower, cordwainer of Cullompton, in the presence of Wm. Harris and ?Louiza? G. Phelps. At the 1871 census, Thomas was a farmer of 80 acres in Teignmouth, Devon. Thomas died in 1882, in Newton Abbot, Devon; Mary died in 1893 in Newton Abbot, Devon; Thomas and Mary had issue: a. Mary Phelps BALE, born in Collumpton, Devon, about 1851; b. John Phelps BALE, born in Collumpton, Devon, on October 18th., 1853. " If anybody is interested, I have details of the children and grandchildren of this Thomas and Mary BALE, all of them cousins of mine. Best wishes. Well that is at least three of you interested. I had best set about doing a transcript. I like Jon's idea of getting it put on the website as an image. Then perhaps Tree House or DRO would like the original. Give me a week to get the transcript done.
