On Ancestry's "UK Soldiers died in the Great War" collection William Henry Daw, birth place Silverton Devon, residence Dawlish. He was in the Coldstream Guards and Guards regiment records aren't held at the National Archives. I had to apply to the Grenadier Guards archivist for my grandfather's records. On the 1901 census there is a William H Dawe born Silverton c1892 living at Dartmouth with parents James and Edith Dawe. Joy

Excellent. Thank you. I did find a note that he was in the Coldstream Guards, but drew a blank when I contacted their regiment records. However I hadn't found the census reference to Dartmouth. Two heads etc!
