    3. Hi Chris, I Looked on FMP and there is a burial at Harpford in 1841 for Francis Harris born c 1770 as well as for Frances Harris born c1778. I didn't see it originally on FreeBMD because the surname has been given an extra s - Harriss. The death falls in the March quarter of 1841 so it was before the census was taken on June 7 1841. It does look as if Francis and Frances may both have moved to Harpford. It might be worth ordering a copy of the will to see who is named in it which will, hopefully, confirm his children's names. Also, if you obtain the death certificates, they may have the name and relationship of the person who notified the Registrar which could also verify that they are the Francis and Frances who baptised children at Oakford. The age at death is consistent with the Francis Harris baptised at Harpford 26 Nov 1769, parents William and Priscilla. I agree with everybody's analysis that William Harris must have had family ties in Aylesbeare and moved there after the death? Of his first wife although I can find no marriage or death record for Mary. One thing is a bit strange William and Caroline Harris had two children with Caroline's maiden name Dyer for a middle name (Ann Dyer Harris 1831 and Sarah Dyer Harris 1829) I would have thought that the parents were not married but they did marry in 1829 it sounds so 21st century. I did see the 1841 census showing Frances Harris aged 60 in Newton Poppleford and also a burial for Frances aged 63 in Harpford. So could it be possible that after the death of her husband Frances moved from Oakford to be close to her children William and Betty? I will continue looking for Francis and Frances Regards Chris Martin The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon > http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ > and > the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon > can be found at > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------------------ The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ and the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon can be found at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------------------ The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ and the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon can be found at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------------------ The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ and the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon can be found at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
