I have since seen the name spelled Poile, Pole, Pool, Polle, Poole ..... Standard spelling did come until the latter part of the 19c when civil registration of births was made compulsory and there was elementary education for (nearly) all. Prior to that it was a phonetic spelling or how it was spelled in the last entry. I have this with other families and found there was a rough correlation between change of spelling and change of incumbent/parish clerk.
