I didn't check every parish but Familysearch has images of the Bishops Transcripts as well some non-conformist registers and other records for the Devon FHS parishes. Those provided by Devon County Council only require a login, those licensed to FMP etc. require a subscription but all can be viewed free at a Family History Library. Many parishes have now been indexed and the image attached subject to FMP etc. subscriptions. 60,000 microfilms covers an awful lot of parishes across the country. The LDS photographed entire local archives and over 60,000 films have been imaged.. They have been cleaned up electronically and most of these have not been indexed and are not available through FMP etc. Some are available online to registered Familysearch users, the rest to church members or at a Family History Library. The Familysearch online catalogue show what is available. > > The films themselves have been donated to the Society of Genealogists. > > Cheers > > Paul > > > -----Original Message----- > From: DEVON [mailto:[email protected]] > On Behalf Of C SWEETLAND > Sent: 14 August 2017 10:09 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [DEV] devon parish registers > > The earliest registers I have found in The Devon FHS members area are Plymtree beginning 1538 & Axminster 1539, the rest are mostly early 1600's. As far as I'm concerned access to these records on the site is worth more than the £10 annual membership fee, there's nothing like looking at original pages unless it's holding the original book. > Regards > Carol Sweetland > ------------------------------------------ > The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ > and > the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon > can be found at > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > ------------------------------------------ > The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon > http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ > and > the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon > can be found at > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- Chairman - Devon Family History Society Registered Charity No. 282490 Web site: http://www.devonfhs.org.uk Email address: [email protected] Join for just £10 a year “Devon Family History Society’s strength lies in its local and specialist knowledge” ------------------------------------------ The DEVON-L mailing list is co-sponsored by GENUKI/Devon http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/ and the Devon FHS (http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/ ) List archive for Devon can be found at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index?list=devon ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
