As someone has already pointed out, there is a marriage indexed on FreeBMD for Elsie Augusta Clarke but there is no Herbert Grillage listed. Unfortunately, the only way to obtain the details about the bride and groom's fathers to see if Herbert is using the name FitzGerald is to purchase the marriage certificate. There is a birth registered at St Thomas registration quarter earlier than 1908: Dec 1904 Herbert F Grillage St Thomas 5b 37 This child died as a death is registered Mar 1905. I don't have a subscription to FMP but there is a burial of Herbert Fitzwilliam Grillage at Mamhead in 1905. I can't see a birth indexed for Frederick George Grillage or an entry on the 1911 census, could they have been abroad? Frederick George Grillage was killed whilst serving in the RAF in 1944. His service records might give birth date and place. I think the RAF still hold these records. (Ann) Grillage and is in Hertfordshire, Watford R. D. The preview shows Margit Vajmar listed on the residence plus one more person who is officially closed (possibly Frederick?). You are probably aware that Herbert's parents, Peter and Temperance, had connections to Florence Nightingale. Peter was a Russian orphan that Florence had brought back from the Crimea and Temperance had been a servant to Florence. Florence Nightingale left them £150 in her will.
