Thank you Paul, I do have most of this but will contact, as you suggested, the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. The Richard Keates you mentioned was bapt. at Corfe Castle in 1793 and passed away in Wareham in 1868. Perhaps he was an Uncle as the name Richard seems to be passed on. There was a brother of RS Keates (1829- ) named Ebenezer who sailed around the world and eventually emigrated to Australia had a son there named also RS Keates. My Keates were connected to the Dorchester Independent Church and were, I think, non-conformist so their records might not be in with the Church of England records. Will let you know what I find.
