I think they may be listed as Ernest L and Helen Archer, boarders at South Cliff Hotel, Bellevue Road, Southbourne, Christchurch, Hampshire. He is listed as a medical practitioner, age 50, birth place N.K. (not known); she is age 45, birthplace also N.K. FMP has marriage of William HAMMETT and Anna RAWLINS at Melcombe Regis, Dorset, in 1801. Transcription, no image. Ancestry has: Dorset, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 Name: Wm Hammett Event Type: Marriage Marriage Date: 2 Sep 1801 Parish: Melcombe Regis, Dorset, England Spouse's Name: Anna Bastias The associated PR image states Wm Hammett of the North Devon Militia of the Parish of B???? and Anna ???? [doubtfully transcribed as Bastias] of the parish of ???? Spinster were married in this Church [MelcombeRegis, Dorset] by Banns, the seventh [not second] day of September 1801. William signed, Anna marked. Witness Clare Raw??? ???? [mother or sister of bride?] Can anyone else help Peter with those two parish names? The will was dated 8 October 1819 so Hannah/Anna Hammett obviously died after that date and before William's second (or possibly third?) marriage in 1835. Hi Ruth I think it is 'Joan daughter of Georg Haripath and Joan his wife baptized May 10 ye 2s to be pd by Joan Haripath living in Pilton and noe other taxe to be pd for ye birth of ye sd (said) child??' Between 1684 and 1706 a fee of 6d plus tax was paid on baptisms. The more well known tax on baptisms came in in 1783. Thanks to Brad and Barry for their replies. It looks like the problem is with me. I tried again and failed, then after a few minutes tried once more and succeeded. However as soon as input a search it was back to "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to www.freebmd.org.uk". Too late tonight to investigate - will have to ask 'computer wizard' son's help tomorrow! Brad - thanks for the tip, it will come in handy. Mike
