Diana People have probably got disillusioned with how long it takes for a message to get to the List. Once upon a time about 2 yrs ago I could post a message and it would pop up on the List within 15 mins. I could have an answer within the hour if lucky. Nowadays my messages can take anything up to 6 days to show up on the list. By then I have forgotten what I was working on, so why bother. The incumbents writing is a little erratic but the final two words in almost every entry are "sepult erat" meaning "was buried". The word after the name is the status of the deceased - uxor/wife filius/filia son/daughter - and in this case Widd - widow. By this time most parishes were using English with the latin being a direct translation of the English. Also the vicar may be using a formula. Sepult should be sepultum and widow vidua. Charytia is a Latinisation of Charity. The letters y and j do not exist and i is used for all and the Latin origin, caritas, means affection/esteem rather than charity as we know it. Also most of the registers I have looked at are using widow rather than relict, even in wills. Shirley Find My Past gives the birth registration index details. You would need to order a copy to get the full details. There is also an 1851 census entry for a Michel Cobey born 1845 in Plymouth, father Daniel, a Chelsea Pensioner born Suffolk and mother Mary born Buckfastleigh.
