    3. Hi, Bev is right , the two entries are clearly in two different books, but one is a copy of the other ..........I would suggest that neither are burials . A whole page of burials would not be so uniformly entered. Inevitably there would be older people buried in this period . These all appear to be children. Is one volume the BTs and one the original register ? -----Original Message----- From: B. 3. Hi Missy If your aunt had a telephone then your best option might be to search Ancestry's database of British Phone Books, 1880-1984, from which you can find her possible street address during different years. Search on her surname/initials/forename/abbrev(like Eliz) but do not filter by county because Ancestry's "inferred" county is a bit iffy. If that fails, do you know of any husband/relative/child with whom she might have lived? If you can find her/their address(es) then you might inspect the Electoral Rolls to find out who else also lived at the same address. FreeBMD is unlikely to be helpful unless your aunt died quite soon after coming to the UK. FreeBMD coverage is from 1837 to 1983 but Deaths are currently very incomplete after 1972, like no SMITHs were born, married or died in Devon after 1974/75?! For better identification use either the England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2007 (on Ancestry) which gives actual (as reported) dates of birth and death, and registration district (which may not be the actual town of death), or the England and Wales Death Registration Index 1837-2007 (free on FamilySearch) which gives actual date of birth but only the year/quarter date of registration of death. You can search for a Probate record, giving place and date of death, and name of executor(s) at https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills for which you will need a name and "year of death" which might actually be found as the year of probate, so start with an early year and scroll through using the "Next Year" button. In the event of any issue with the will, there might be a legal notice in the London Gazette https://www.thegazette.co.uk/ Alternatively, did your aunt leave a will that might have been proved in an Australian state? I have seen reference to one such will for a death in England. Finally, by way of a long shot, do you know if your aunt had any relatives in Devon/Surrey/England who might appear in someone else's public tree? 3. Hi everyone: I am looking for a baptism of a Philip Angel born approx. 1785 he is the one shown in the 1841 census, age 56 with wife Susan, sons John, Samuel and daughter Susan, John Lane, Charles the Martyr, Plymouth. Transcript says Philip age 36, but the image is clearly 56. The only baptism I can find is 19 March, 1787, Buckfastleigh, s/o John and Mary, shown on Family Search and Findmypast. However there are the following burials:19 March 1787, Buckfastleigh, on Findmypast (Devon burials)2 May, 1787, Holne, on Findmypast (Devon burials) I'm happy Philip shown in 1841 is the one who marries Jenny Bourgoyne in 1816, Plymouth St. Andrew and has sons Thomas Bourgoyne 1818, Philip 1822 (my line), John 1824, Samuel 1827. Jenny/Jane dies in 1827 and Philip remarries Susan Williams in 1831, daughter Susan born 1833 - relates to the 1841 census above. 1841 census also shows my direct line Philip b 1822 apprenticed to John Nichols, farmer in Buckfastleigh - there is an apprentice in the register index supporting this - Philip, 12, s/o Philip and Jenny. 1851 shows Philip b 1822 at 3 John Lane, Charles the Martyr, with his family and his brothers Thomas and John.  Stepmother Susan is at 1 John Lane, widow, with daughter Susan.  I can find no other baptism for Philip Snr. other than the one in 1787, but the burials present a problem! Any thoughts, or suggestions? Another set of eyes sometimes sees something obvious!! Thanks, Linda

    2. Electoral registers, if they have been kept, will be in either the county archive or the local heritage library. First go to th UK national archives discovery catalogue. This covers all the county archives. Search electoral or voters register and filter on county level. Note there are few indexed registers but if you know the name and date they may do a free lookup. Similarly Google the local heritage library then email them. Sorry this is a bit brief but smartphones don't agree with me. In 1881 David was a Station Master, at Thornbury, Ontario, but in 1874-1879 baptism records he was called a Railway Agent, as he was in 1891. By 1901 he was a Freight Clerk. 3. In second third and fourth marriages make those 1634, 1661, and 1762. My typo as they wouldn't copy and paste for some odd reason. Terry Blackmore -----Original Message----- From: Terry Blackmore via Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 11:32 PM To: devon@rootsweb.com Subject: [DEV] Strays from Ipplepen, Devon I’m currently searching through various village marriages looking for George Moore who married Mary Sellick, before 1700. So far no Luck. But since I came across these strays in Ippelpen. Since I have them, someone may find a few missing marriages, that they may be trying to find.
