Hello, I'd be very interested to know what kind of sources you have to trace your ancestry back to Charlemagne. I know he probably has thousands of descendents today (and, who knows, maybe I'm one of them), but when I find him in ancestry member trees, the only sources, if any, that are cited are other ancestry trees, and I'm very sceptical. I'd love to have my scepticism proved wrong, though. Luckily, like you Ruth, my paper trail starts with both parents, my mother to James I of England and my father to the Savoy line , with a great great aunt who was mother of the first Battenberg. Hi Bev I have a Francis Edmonds Skeates b. 1863 Bristol son of Joseph Baylis Skeates and his 2nd wife Jane Hamilton. As far as I can understand, the Edmonds comes from a connection to Jane Hamilton. She received an income via the Edmonds family and was left 5000 pounds in 1888 or so, when George Edmonds rector of Little Badderley in Shropshire, or his brother died. In 1851 Jane was living with Edward Edmonds as housekeeper but he was the 3rd husband of the woman I think was her grandmother, whose 2nd husband was Edward Edwards and then she had married Edward Edmonds. VERY confusing. All of the 3 husbands were military, and she was something like 40 years older than the last husband! The Edmonds were from Ireland and there were some on the Island of Man from that family. Cannot get enough on them to put it all together. Not sure this is much help to you! Yes, these MI transcriptions for George PERRIAM and for Elizabeth Ann PERRIAM are inconsistent with the burial register images on FMP's Devon Burials. But the adjacent transcriptions for Henry George PERRIAM (1859, same headstone) and Henry PERRIAM (1842, adjacent plot) are correct. Is it possible that the "wrong" transcriptions of the two earlier deaths might have been correctly copied from a headstone that was erected in 1859 but incorrectly inscribed at the time of that later death, because someone somehow got the other details wrong? "there do appear to be a number of inconsistencies with this transcription" Although in fairness, without the check on the stones themselves, we don't know whether the issue is with the transcript or the stones. Or (quite possibly) both. They wouldn't be the first stones to carry errors - nor the first stones to be correctly carved but with an odd number shape that fools the transcriber. As was suggested - a check is needed to be certain.
Unfortunately there do appear to be a number of inconsistencies with this transcription. e.g. page 78 entry no. 623 of the burial register shows a burial date of 31 August 1836 for Elizabeth Ann PERRIAM aged 5 (she was baptised on 19 June 1831) whilst the transcription shows a death date of 27 August 1837. The parish burial register (entry no. 499) shows that George PERRIAM was buried in September 1832. However, the transcription of the entry on his headstone (item 831 on the web-site schedule) includes a death date of 24 September 1833 and his age as 32. The burial register shows his age as 30.
