For those with Irish Ancestors Cheers Paul -----Original Message----- From: IRL-CO-DONEGAL [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Christina Hunt Sent: 06 September 2016 14:38 To: [email protected] Subject: [IRL-CO-DONEGAL] if you missed the news... From Claire Santry's blog Irish Genealogy News: http://www.irishgenealogynews.com/2016/08/onlnine-launch-irish-birth-marriag e.html Online launch: Irish birth, marriage & death registers Next Thursday, 8 September, will be a red-letter day for Irish genealogy. The General Register Office's historical birth, marriage and death registers will be launched online on that date, joining the GRO Index and a collection of church records on www.IrishGenealogy.ie. Further details will be released early next week. For now, this is all the information being made public. When this move was first mooted, back in July 2014, it came with an assurance that these records would be accessible free of charge. Subsequent intervention should also have made us quite certain that the records will be subject to the 100-75-50-years rule ie only those births more than 100 years old, marriages more than 75 years ago, and deaths 50 years ago. I'll bring more news when it's available. (September looks like it's going to see a bumper delivery for Irish genealogy. Those other record collections I've mentioned rather too many times will be along before the month is out, too.) ================= https://www.google.ie/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I am anxious to contact a Simon Young whose web site sjly.co.uk indicates that he and my wife share the ancestors John Luke, ironmonger of Exeter and Bridget Delia Rochfort of Ireland who married in Birmingham in September 1799. Simon's site contains a Luke pedigree which differs in detail in 2 successive 17th century generations from the one I have developed over 50 years of research, although both pedigrees link back to John Luke who was baptised in Charleton in 1602. I wish to exchange with Simon the detailed information on the evidences we have each used to construct our conflicting pedigrees - they can't both be right! I have also got three 16th century generations to extend back from his earliest ancestor John Luke which will be of interest to him. Does any lister have a contact address for Simon Young - postal or email - they can pass on to me please? Alternatively they would be helping Simon and I if they drew his attention to this posting. Any information will be gratefully received. Guy Lawton

    3. Hi all, sorry for all the problems over the last few days, all down to upgrading the servers at Rootsweb. This is just to let you know that as of 20.15 BST today I have been able to put the list on moderation. This means that ALL messages have to be approved by one of the admin team before sending out. This will inevitably lead to delays as the team are not online all the time. Hopefully this will put an end to the spam problem. Terry List admin team
